Old wives tale, to train quads need to squat in a manner that maximises knee flexion

Go for it. They are your knees. Even if it is an old wives' tale, it has worked well for my knees.

Good advice. One's knees should never extend beyond their toes when doing any type of squat.

This is true for squats.

Using a hack sled with your feet/ankles directly in line with your knees and spine is a great way to hurt yourself.

You can't push your hips back behind your knees like you can with a squat.

Good article. Advice mostly geared towards the power lifter. The author makes the importance of employing the "hips first" when squatting abundantly clear.
