Biden pardons
Skeletor:
Biden pardoned his scumbag son, unsurprisingly, yet despite insisting multiple times he would not. He also recently pardoned Chinese spies and just today he granted 39 pardons and commuted the sentences of roughly 1,500 federal offenders.
He still has several weeks to issue more pardons and many controversial ones are granted on the last day.
I think he may offer a preemptive pardon to Fauci and maybe Bennie Thompson (possibly Liz Cheney with him). The old fossil and race-baiter Clyburn seems to have a disproportionate influence on Biden, almost to the point of blackmail, so whoever Clyburn demands also has a strong possibility of getting a pardon or commutation.
I don't think Biden will pardon Edward Snowden or Julian Assange.
Who do you think Biden will pardon before he leaves office?

And not one J6 political prisoner...
Grape Ape:
Never worried about pardons too much since, to me they were more of "to the winner goes the spoils" type stuff, and there would always be a few here and there that raised an eyebrow or two.
I'll admit I'm not up to par on the nuances of it - is it actually legal to give a blanket pardon to someone who has not been charged with a crime, but might?
Like Fauci for example?

At least he got that right
Agnostic007:
I don't spend a lot of time in the news these days but I am aware Biden pardoned his son. And while I agree the charge he was convicted of is rarely if ever enforced, and likely would not be enforced if not for his connection to Biden, it is part of the paperwork to own a gun. I've always been a proponent of removing laws and ordinances nobody enforces. If nobody cares, and it is continually ignored it is a good sign it is a bad law or ordinance. However, it was and is the law and he violated it. He experienced monetary gain from his connection to his father and didn't relinquish that so I have no qualms about holding him accountable on his violation in buying the gun. You can't just revel in the benefits and be immune from the negatives.
But, IMO, preemptive pardons should NOT be a part of the presidential powers. Hell, I am not a fan of the current Presidential pardon powers as we have seen them abused from both sides of the aisle
