You will be fine Grape - the hardest part won't be physical for you - will be the mental shit.  Like Cold water , sand everywhere in your shit, swelled up feet, no food for first 12-13 hours, etc.

Thanks.  Not worried about the food at all.  The water..........man I hope it's warm out.

I think once I do a 12 mile ruck under 3.5 on my own I will feel ready.

Remember guys taping their feet because the skin was raw from the Boots. Back too from Carrying Bergens. Some swallowed ibuprofen tablets to make it through the runs. was a running joke ...any pain you got ibuprofen and a stretch bandage from the medics...could not support a limp cock... ;D go for it Grape Ape :)

Been breaking in a pair of Salomon RXDs, smartwool socks and bodyglide.  So far, no blister issues.

I had a pair of...if my memory is correct Magnums. light and good. Doing Basic they made sure you wore Army issued boots. Ofcourse it´s long ago. You young boys have much better kit now.

Yeah, there's so many options for gear now that's moisture wicking, warm, and lightweight.  Young?  I wish.  ;D

10x non stop circuit:
Jumping Jacks x 10
Body weight squat x 20 (first five) x 10 (second five)

3 non stop circuit:
Goblet squat x 10 - finish with body weight to get to 1 min
Lunges 1 min
Jog 5 min
Crunch x 25
Double crunch x 25
Plank x 1 min
Swimmer x 30 sec
Reverse pushup x 20
Bird (seems like more reverse pushup) x 20

12 - 30 sec sprints @ 10 mph / 20 sec rest in between

32 pushups then my wind got me

Eventually, I'm just following Smith's routine right now.  I also want to add in some strength training, but using this to give the joints a rest.

Bear crawls suck in the basement.

Thought this workout would be easy due to low volume, but although it didn't say specifically, I think the idea is to push the blood  to the upper body, then make the person run in order to be able to handle the transition during a military or police PT test.

3 x circuit:

Pushup MAX
Pullup MAX
Crunch x 25
Dip MAX
Puhsup on knees MAX
Curl to press x 10
Situps MAX in 2 min

Light shoulder circuit

3.2 Mile Run @ 7:33 per

Not to derail this thread but yesterday they had on the Spartan race championship from Killington in Vermont.
pretty crazy with over 14 miles of going up and down the mountain.

...nothing that interests me to do but damn that looked tough.

You are welcome to derail.   Yes, the elite versions of those races - 24 hr Tough Mudder, etc....are all feats of tremendous endurance and strength.

People rip on it, but doing those obstacles is so much fun.  It's everything you wish you could do as a kid.  On the last one, I looked over and my son was running along side me in the spectator area.  My wife said he was jumping out of his short he wanted to do it so bad.

Swimming in Vermont this time of year is no fucking joke....they showed a few people who froze and cramped up.

After jumping in the 30 degree water at the mudder, I completely get it.  The signals from your mind to you hands feel delayed.  I can't see lasting in that water very long.

Cool deal about your son.

obstacles are the best part of it...that's why I'm doing the Savage Race next year....25 obstacles packed into somewhere around 7 miles.

I plan on staying in shape until he's old enough to do one with me.

Yesterday pressed for time:

10 box squats x 2 reps, 1 min rest - add 5lbs every set.  Started with 75% max and worked up to 88.....no theory behind it, just did it.

3 circuit:
Weighted chins x 5 with 10 sec pause superset RDL.

Nice - you seem like you're "Heavy" ready year round at his point.

Mine was six miles @ 1:55 but with rocks and hills.  I figure the trails and rocks cost me 2 min per mile...So, I was right around pace for 12 miles in 3.5 hrs

My son came with me and we brought a football to throw on the trail.  Pack never bothered me at all, which is good.  The bad was I did a total faceplant because I hit a root under the leaves and my chin hit the ground - the pack slamming me didn't help - still carrying a 35lb plate because I haven't got bricks yet.  Felt like I got punched in the face.
