Neutering caused an increase in appetite?
« on: October 02, 2007, 09:36:13 AM »
Ever since I got Plato neutered, its been about a month...he destroys his food and seems like he is hungry all the time.  Like, he ate so peacefully before and was so satisfied it seemed, now he tears through it like crazy.  Anyone know if theres a scientific reason for this?

Lowering of the natural testosterone levels from the testes and subsequent proportional increase in estrogen from the adrenal glands and metabolism of circulating testosterone to estrogen.  Its hormonal.  Cut his food back so that he doesn't get too fat.  He should stabilize out over the next 2-4 months.
