mlb's new math 13-60-293=184,000,000 for 8 years

 ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) jason heyward just got this contract with an opt out after the third  and 4 th year in case salaries go up...good lord guy had 13 hrs 60 rbi and a peak for him 293 avg...his career 162 game avgs are 19 hrs 68 rbi and a 268 avg...27 was his hr peak. and 82 rbi was the peak in that category...i don't care how good his defense is , he's not worth that kind of money.....cubs are nuts. ::) ::) ::) ::)

A lot of his value has to do with his makeup and age, as players don't tend to be free agents at that time, as well has his elite defense.

I'm not saying he's worth that either, but if you go by WAR, and assume 1 win is worth 7M.....well, you get it.....it's a new reality - these guys are going to make bazillions.  Batting average / RBI ARE outdated metrics though - the new stuff is better.

Wait until Harper gets 400M+

WAR is cumulative, and Heyward started at age 20...might be part of it.....Bonds had a few "non elite" years before he went nuts at age 25.

But, as for WAR in general, I'm not a fan of the defensive measurement in it....at all.
