Weiners, burgs, BBQ'ing, potato sack races, fireworks, baseball and apple pie is the usual staple of celebrating this wonderful country.

So what are your plans:

Early morning workout?

Pre packed food with cooler?

hitting the tanning salon to look even darker at the party?

site injections two days prior for that even swole'er look?

The elusive fish in the pantyhose is always great to catch in the keys! … (great nightlife / bars / fishing / I did snorkeling and rented wave runners …fishing charter etc it’s a great / fun place have a blast!)

Hadn't really thought much about the 4th until this thread.

Often the weather sucks in much of Oregon on the 4th. Most fireworks are illegal here now except for sparklers and the like. We can't see the big commercial fireworks displays from this house like we could when we lived a block from the Willamette River in Sellwood where we had a great view of them from the flat roofed garage. We still live close to the river, but giant firs block our view of it. The dogs will get tranquilizers because the noise from fireworks makes them crazy.

I'll put up the flag when I get up the morning of the 4th, if my son-in-law hasn't already beat me to it. In the afternoon one of us may barbecue some veggie burgers (mine will be beef). Then my grandson and his fiancé will light some uneventful fireworks on the patio for my two-year-old great-granddaughter to marvel at. And around 11:00 p.m. when everything settles down, My Rat Terrier, Lucy and I will ‘hit the hay’ like almost every other night of the year.
