Now it begins.
Buckle up.
Not sure how much of a ride this is going to be. Might end up as a short ‘trip around the block.’ When the Trump kicked off his candidacy at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday night, Madison Cawthorn, the scandal-ridden outgoing representative from North Carolina, was the only member of Congress who showed. His biggest financiers (prior donors) are running the other way as fast as they can. Not even his beloved daughter, Ivanka and son-in-law, Jared had the time or inclination to attend his announcement.
Trump's response to this lack of support is that those who do not support him in his (the third) campaign early on will "rue the day they crossed him." He added that he was keeping track of who endorsed him and “those who waited too long” were “not gonna like” the fate that would befall them when he wins. Scary!
The smear campaign began with Trump telling reporters, of DeSantis, “If he did run, I will tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering. I know more about him than anybody other than perhaps his wife, who is really running his campaign.” Does Trump honestly believe folks aren't sick of his nonsense? Sadly, I think at least a few ‘die hard’ Maga folks will hop on his bandwagon. Whether enough of them do to make a difference, remains to be seen.
