A recent poll of folks in the Portland Metro area shows that 88% what to maintain or increase police funding. Only 15% want say defund them and 3% are undecided. A slightly lower percentage of people in the City of Portland want to maintain or increase police funding.
Surprised anyone? Looks like those of us who live in the 'burbs' have more respect for the police-person's sometimes difficult job. Don't know yet if Measure 3-566 to increase funding for the Clackamas County sheriffs department, which was on the ballot yesterday, passed. Guess it takes awhile to count the vote. LOL!

Ted Wheeler is the Portland Police Bureau's commissioner or the top 'boss' of the Portland police. Ted Wheeler was reelected Portland's mayor on November 4, 2020. Portland's Mayoral position has no term limits. Former Mayor, Vera Katz held the position for 10 years. If Ted Wheeler doesn't preform as the people in the city Portland want, he can be voted out at anytime, either in a recall or during a regular election cycle.

There's nothing more disappointing than small potatoes. The volume to skin ratio is smaller so you're doing more labor peeling for less edible potato.

Yeah, there are some real kooks in Eastern Oregon. For example there was the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in 2016. Back in the 80's Rajneeshees squatted in Eastern Oregon and built the commune city of Rajneeshpuram.
I'd say good riddance except only 5 out of 22 counties voting to secede from Oregon to Idaho, the movement has a long ways to go before that happens. Some counties in Northern California also want to become part of 'greater Idaho'.
You should think about relocating....these are your people, politically speaking. They are very conservative. You'd feel right at home except that the coast in Northern CA, although beautiful, isn't as beach friendly because the ocean is too damn cold up there.

If you are referencing the situation in Portland, I don't think it was so much about cracking down or not as it was about federal interference. The only justification I can see for sending in Federal troops was because it was a federal building, in which case the troops should have stood their ground on that property and not go around the city chasing protesters down to arrest or detain them (some say kidnap them). Trump was setting a dangerous precedent. Their presence actually made matter worse because the violence escalated.
