Electric cars to get more expensive as battery costs soar

My honest non expert opinion is that eventually gas prices will rise to the point where battery operated vehicles will become viable. It probably won't happen in my lifetime or at least during the time I am still able to get a license to drive. Oh, but then there are self-driving vehicles in the works. I'd buy one of them. My current car all but drives itself and I love it.

Electric cars only barely make any sense because they are supported by government rebates/credits.
Taxpayers supporting wealthy virtue signalers so they can drive Teslas.

Tesla's new roadster projected price $200,000. First 1,000 will sell for $250,000. I think I'll buy a couple of them so while one is charging, I can drive the other. :)
