See...right there is a bad assed dog. Why most dogs would loose a fight with that dog is the thick-thick coat of fur & long nose.

No offense to any of the dog owners here, but if you know anything about dogs, its that a game bred american pit bull terrier will destroy ANY dog, regardless of size, strength or viciousness of the opposing dog in a dog fight. The bigger, stronger dogs might dominate the first ten minutes, but when those dogs get tired, an APBT is just getting warmed up and is still able to go full boar and would thusly destroy its opponent. I do not condone dog fighting in any form, but being as how i do work for the SPCA and BAD RAP, it doesn't take long to learn about dog fighting.
I'm sure the person with the potential wolf hybrid did indeed see their dog pin a pit bull, whether or not that was a game bred pit is another story. Even jack london in white fang and call of the wild writes of the superiority of the american pit bull terrier. They were bred to be a perfect fighting dog.
I must say though, that these types of threads shouldn't be allowed as it just promotes ego stroking and posturing that i despise among dog owners. I own an american pit bull terrier and i could care less if he could beat another dog. As long as he remains a loyal and loving companion i could care less about his dog fighting prowess, nor should anyone else here of their own dog(s).

dog fights are like anything else.....on any given day....you could be surprised by the outcome
Thats why it's so big on gambling....because you can never be so sure on the outcome.

so you tell us that your dog will beat any other dog and then say you despise dog owners that brag about their dog's fighting??

This subject can very easily go into a bad direction. I don't think we need to ban this type of conversation if it remains civil and intelligent.

I agree....
I do not condone dog fights. It's one thing if it happens by accident...but by talking about dog breeds vs other dog breeds & which is better than another for fighting is walking on some thin ice.

American staffordis the cousin of pitbull, almost the same. They got the strongest jaw, and are most agressive in fights.When they bite they dont let go. Even if your dog looks mean as hell, he s got no chance against the pitbull/stafford and some other japanese breed.(forgot the name).
But my dog is very laid back, he keeps his business to himself. He never attacks other dogs, sometimes some small dogs bite him, he just stands there. But if a real big dogs comes, he sees the threat and his hair on the back stands up, and gets in agressive mode.

yes this type of dogs has really sweet personality, expecially nice to people, he loves everybody.
there is one thing that i dont understand, when he sees dogs outside, he slowly lays on the ground like a lion, then other dog comes to him and he stands up emmidiately ???

Supposedly....a test was done....& the Rottweiler has the strongest bite/jaws
I could be mistaken....maybe someone could provide some information.
I do know...there's nothing that my dog hasn't been able to destroy

Due to the incredible strength and stamina of the pitbull, one activity that has raised popularity with pitbull owners is WEIGHT PULLING.
dogs compete against eachother in pulling a weighted cart a certain distance. The weight of the cart is increased until a winner is determined. Currently pitbull's hold world records in several weight classes.

there doesn't seem to be a 'scientific' data ever performed.
Some experts say this...others that
Basically...if you look or examine a Rottweilers jaw....it's the same as a Pit...but larger, bigger, & yes...more muscle.
Plus you factor in their weight & neck muscles (for a Rottweiler over a Pit)....it's hard to say.
I always found it 'curious' but honestly...never want to be on the receiving end of a chi let a lone a Pit or Rot.
You can take a 'large' Pit....& the results may very dramatically....then you can do the same with a large Rot.
I am just going by breed standards.
Pulling a sled....there's a whole different topic. I have always found the heart & determination of a pulling dog so unbelievable.

I never said anything about my dog, i said something about the breed.

I think most people are a bit biased about their own breed being the strongest or the toughest.I for one can tell you that my Neopoletan Mastiff never lost a fight in his and hers life! And that includes fichting off a very powerfull Am staff! That doesn't mean i got the strongest dog on the block but it tells me that i should have been more carefull which dog i let my dogs "play" with. It's a learning experience to see which dog is properly socialised and to read the body language of your own dog aswel as the other dog he she is encountering.
Nowadays i see a fight coming from a mile away so i walk the other way and nothing happens.
We should all focus on socialising our dogs to be very friendly and obedient companions instead of trying to find out which dog is the strongest.. :-\

Well....I am more afraid of being bit by a 10-20 lb dog than a 100-200 lb dog.

Tad is only 6 1/2 pounds. ;D
But out of all 4, he is the one I would expect to bite someone. He has bitten me and a few others, but never hard enough to break the skin, not that he doesn't sound like he wants to tear you to pieces. He checks himself just enough that it isn't a real bite. He has scared quite a few people ;D
