Curious to know what everybody though when they saw a show on tv or live for the first time.
I remember when I was about 15 and saw the mr. Olympia for the first time, I though to myself man that is so gay! Guys in strings posing. I was expecting it to be like the pictures in Arnold's encyclopedia which seemed to speack volumes of the bodybuilders featured.

First time I knew of pro BB was picking up a Flex at the news stands Olympia 88 coverage. :o

the first time I went to the gym, I was with one of my girlfriend's father and a huge black dude named Gregory Ulyss was training him.
I remember I had a hard time curling the 20's and he was beside me curling the 80's on and incline bench
since that day I wanted to be "the best built man on the planet !" ;D
Greg won the light-heavies at this year's canadian nationals btw

When I was around 9-12 years old I remember seeing bodybuilders on the cover of FLEX and other magazines and being fascinated by them. I remember in particular seeing Jay Cutler on a lot of magazines and always looking at the magazing racks expecting to see him.
Also, I remember seeing pumping iron on TV (again as a child) and being completely taken by the size of Arnold in the scene where he talks about cumming lol. I remember that day quite vividly, actually. I was watching that scene while my mom was rushing me out the door. I felt deprived as I was being separated from the TV hhahah. I remember even for years after seeing it that one time on TV I hoped it would come on again, although it never did and I never saw it again until I bought the DVD.

You mean with coochie cutter tennis shorts on with tube socks up to their knees and beards with hairy armpits and forearms??? That's what you expected it to be like?
Negroes with giant afros? What are you talking about?
No I mean the hardcore gym pictures. All the pics where in black and white and they actually looking like legendary warriors and not ogres.

I got a M&F with Arnold on the cover. I wondered how much heathy food he had to eat to get muscle like that.

When a nude scene comes on the television I pull out my cock and start wanking, with or without the company of a relative.

it was the first time that I saw Alexxx sister's calves. Since then it has been my dream to build them as big as hers.

I had pretty much the same thoughts. Then after seeing the pictures of you you've posted here, the "that is so gay" got to a completely new level.
Hope this helps.

Your girlfriend was laughing at you for using the same weights as her?
Haha yes !!
she was a pretty strong girl, she could bench press 135 lbs for 3 or 4 reps back in the day.
pretty strong for a 14 years old girl she was around 115 pounds
the first day I started training I was 137 lbs at 5'10 !!!! :-X
I couldn't bench 90 pounds

That's a good topic starter. My first bodybuilding impression, is when I was a preteen, and I purchased an album by Grand Funk Railroad, called "All Girls Beware", or something like that. Any way, they had the faces of the guys in the band, superimposed on the bodies of bodybuilders, and there and then, I said to myself, that is what I want to look like...

Back in the day, ABC world wide sports use to be on regularly and Im not sure what was on the program that day...but in the beginning credits, they show flashes of events they cover and I was totally shocked as a little kid when for two seconds they showed Arnold doing a twisting back shot...I have never seen anything like it ..i was like "DAD, did you see that guy !! Oh my God!! " He said ..."That guy is an actor now ..."

I had the Pumping Iron book for as long as I can remeber - 1st saw Lee Haney in the mags and was under the impression that bodybuilders worked out for like 4-8hrs a day (well that's what most outsiders thought back in the 80's). I started lifting seriously for football around 91-92 in 93 got a personal trainer at Gold's Gym in Chicago to beef up seriously for the varsity - figure out Gold's and trainers were BS so joined this little store-front gym on the far south side (first time I ever saw a person in bench-press 600lbs :o) - and that's were I learned the truth about bodybuilding and drugs, power-lifting and drugs and how a true hardcore gym can accually put strength on you by just being in the right atmosphere!!! Love training, bodybuilding then and always will ;D
