Title: Mark Kerr
Post by: rccs on November 06, 2006, 06:37:42 AM
Kerr was a great fighter. Good physic, very strong, very good wrestling. I would like to know what was his training methodology, was he giving more credit to weight training than the other fighters? Despite all that, he couldn't box very well, my opinion. He won most of the fights on the floor, using his forehead and naked fists. I wonder if Kerr had to figth Fedor, MMA ruling, what could he do against such a complete fighter like Fedor?

His training consisted of lots of hard work, steroids and painkillers.

Unfortunately, Mark Kerr can now answer that.  BTW, The Smashing Machine is still a great documentary.  When Bas had his ass on track, he was an animal.

I saw his documentary for the first time a month ago or so and wow it was great.  Really sad but really entertaining to watch.

Too bad, he was the first of many of the modern day MMAers who were open to expanding their game.  When Mark was with Bas, he was one tough motha.

if anyone thinks that kerr is the only mma fighter that took steroids and opiates to enhance performance, or that he is in the minority, they are sadly mistaken.

imo, as good as kerr was on the shoot he could be given to lapses of focus and desire.

under current mma rules he would lose. no question.

You haven't seen some of his bare-knuckle Vale Tudo fights then.

I just saw The Smashing Machine on TV. First exposure to UFC/PRIDE, actually. I really liked Mark. He seemed like a great, down to earth guy who just ran into some drug and relationship problems. Overall, I'd say they both didn't help his matches with the Russian (Igor Vovchanchin?) and Fujita, but I'm glad he got on the right track in the end as far as health is concerned.

i watched live some of Kerr fights in Brazil in the beginning of his carrer, when fighter didnt even use glove on the fights...
the guy was brutal!!!! very explosive, strong, beating everyone like an animal...that style of fighting put him in the top very quick
and like Fedor is now, he was undefeated for a long time seeming to be unbeatable...

not to be picky, but Fedor has 1 unfortunate, freak loss to his name. But yes, he is untouchable right now unless he fights an on song Crocop. That is his only threat in MMA

exactly, cut or not cut Fedor lost at least that time...but thats ok, it doesnt take away his majesty...(the same way with Cro Cop who lost some times already...)

He jacked up TK in the rematch, though.
