seems that 'ol Stevie boy has been pissing some people off lately and my thoughts on this little drama queens behavior is that he is probably some rich kid whose daddy and mommy left him a big inheritance and now he acts like he owns the world, all 5'6" of him, what do you think?

What I want to know is whats up with Steve Blechemans hair.Everytime I see him his hair is a diffrent color, he is like a woman.One time I will see him and his haur is gray, the next time I see him its black, then a few months later its black with blond highlights.My company has booth at the Mr O expo, the Arnold, and about 3 other various shows an year, and one thing you can count on this Steves Blechmans hair being diffrent each time.Plus Steve has a great magazine I will give him that but having talking to him on occasion I think he is a fragile arrogant prick.John Romano on the other hand is a cool guy, but Steve is a pretentious, phony ,who I can see why people would be upset with him.

The truth about Steve is first of all he is a short little dude with 70's hair, tight jeans and manicure. Enough said I guess.
But there is more. Look at all the "articles" of his "athletes". They all non stop kissing his ass, which becomes quite obvious that since Ron Harris is writing most of them it means he gets instructions from Steve or Romano. Apart of athletes, he has William Llewellyn (good), Ron Harris (good articles) and then the bad and that includes ass kissers like Flex who is number one asshole in Bodybuilding (great athlete though), Dave Palumbo (drug dealer and even that was fake), Valentino (I dont know what to say here) and John Romano, who altough projects some level of intellegence is nothing but a puppet (something like Bob Chicherillo with IFBB).
Steve is in this for money only, which of course nothing wrong with this but to say or to think that he cares about bodybuilders (Lee Priest comes to mind and Chris Cormier) is absolutely ridiculous.

He problably works 80 hours a week and doesn't have time to kiss everyone's boo boo. Gaspari and even Gamma-O spent tons more money than he did. 3000 a month is a damn good deal and he got a full page spread.

The sad part is you worked for 30 minutes to come up with a quality sentence and this is all you came up with. If I'm lucky, one day I'll be able to average 30 post a day on getbig like you. the first muscular development i ever read was the melvin anthony issue with branch warrenns first leg article in it and in the opening pages the title to blechmans column was "you have to lift weights to read md, because we are so frickin huge" with that picture of bsteve flexing his 13 inch gunsright next to it. hahahahaha. he seems like a cool guy but i dont understand why he is the editor of a bodybuilding magazine....same with romano..you would thnk if their whole lives were dedicated to the sport, they would at least participate.

You're absolutely right. I take it back. It was a momentary laps in judgement.... I hadn't gotten high yet. And, you're right about the harsh comments. But, it doesn't really bother me that they come from guys "hiding behind their keyboard" (god, that sounds so Kamali-ish) I just think that people should know what they are talking about before they post something. And, I believe the debate should stick to the facts - not to demean someone by poking fun at how they look.
Lee Priest and Steve Blechman's business should have been kept between them. Since it was made public, I think the sentiment leans toward Lee because he's the athlete, and Steve represents the Establishment and makes business decisions that represents what is good for his company. I can see how people wouldn't like that, and you have a right to dislike his actions. But he didn't do anything any other CEO of any company wouldn't do. No one is assured employment forever. MD constantly changes it's roster.
And, yes, we are guilty of searching for our niche, and in so doing took opposing sides at different times. Okay, so what? We're trying to be successful. We made a decision the industry and the fans didn't like. But that was almost a decade ago. We've obviously seen the error of our ways. Where is it written that because we are a magazine we can't improve?
If someone identified themselves to me I would talk to them. If they have a beef with me I'd like to know why. If they are misinformed I'd like the chance to set it straight. I don't expect everyone to like me, but if you're going to dislike me, then you should at least have the right reason.

Grimek competed in the 1940s. The IFBB started to take over in the 1970s.
However, Grimek was the publishing editor of Muscular Development from the first issue in 1964 until some time in the 1980s. MD is and will always be Grimek's magazine, and the current publishers would do well to keep that in mind.

I actually think that the sport needs a Romano. I read your column every month and I get a new perspective on issues all the time. I can tell you work your ass off to get the info an come up with the theories. Keep up the good work...
BTW... the sound quality on NBR sucks. I can never hear the guest. Like there is no point to listen to the show because the guest speaker is always low.
