Title: hughes GSP discussion ( spoiler inside)
Post by: lilwoday09smb on November 18, 2006, 09:43:50 PM
If any bitches and complains and says the accidental low blows cost Hughes the fight I say shut up. he lost fair and square. GSP was dominate. unreal takedown scraamble and extrmely quick jabs. Agghhh if only Monson was 6 inches taller i would have had a great night

It'll probably be brought up in the hype for the rubber match.  I'm A GSP fan, but I'll give Hughes credit that he got up pretty quick to fight.  I was scared they'd call it a no-contest for a sec.

Hughes has taken low blows before and still won the fight.  Remember what Trigg did?  GSP was just to much to fast.  Im sure there will be a Hughes and GSP III very soon.  I kinda feel bad for Serra :)

Funny thing is, if you look, the kicks caught him on his upper inside thigh, but they weren't in the crotch. He was just milking it to the fullest. I think he knew inside he was gonna get rocked. Or at least, he should have. :)

You gotta be f*cking kidding me!  Those blows were on his inner thigh and his foot rolled up a bit and maybe grazed Matts cup a little.  I watched it probably 20 times on tape and there's no way it did any damage.  Matt was so damn confused that he needed a break to try and regroup (those inner leg kicks f*cking hurt!)!  GSP came to battle and Matt was just way overclassed!  Now with GSP's confidence I see the same thing happening in the next fight, GSP will destroy Matt now that he has exposed him!

Now that this has happend I think Sanchez should have to go through Hughes for a title shot at GSP.. who else would be inline for a title shot at 170?

yeah they didnt do much, i think getting kneed in the groin is far worse and most of the time you can't even see that happen because of the camera angle
this was a clear win for gsp, no doubt about it.

Ya pretty straight forward fight, I don't think GPS has any major competition he'll have to go to pride lol

The post PPV press conference is on youtube. Hughes was humble in defeat and said that the low blows were a non-factor. He made no excuses, thankfully. St-Pierre just completely out classed him. I'm glad St-Pierre won.

it was a good fight and GSP clearly came in hungry.  Even if hughes was kicked or got his nuts grazed, by UFC rules he can take as much time as he needs to recover.  the fact he didn't take much time tells us that the hit (or nonhit) wasnt serious.

It's not over yet.

Each has a victory over the other.

Wait for the rematch.

Matts style is not versatile enough thats the problem.

Matt has access to any kind of trainer he wants.

Believe me, he will study his loss and learn from it.

I'm sure he's training like a madman right now.

I believe the kicks were legitimately hurting him btw.
Even getting kicked with a cup on hurts, especially from a fighter of GSP's calibre.
