I say this with respect. Anybody that knows anything about mma knows that this all comes down to business. This would be a huge fight for whatever org holds the event. Wand or chuck will fight anybody , and would love for this fight to happen. But both are under contract to different fight orgs and no one wants to lose the HUGE pay day that this fight would generate. I want to see it too. But to say that chuck is ducking silva is just foolish.

i can appriciate that but i would think that chuck would be the first not to take this fight because of the money! silva has said that chuck cant hide forever

No. It'll happen if Pride and Zuffa can come to an agreement. Which is probably never going to happen... :'(

chuck didnt back down when they squared off. He wants the fight as much as anyone, as does Silva. That would be a defining fight in MMA history, but it all comes down to Sakakibaras decision to sanction it - and hes decided against it for now

from what i heard it was Sakakibara that decided against it. It wouldnt surprise me with Dana, i think even he knows it would be a tough fight for Chuck. Should Chuck lose then it gives Pride a valuable whooping of their poster champion, should Chuck win then it starts a war between the 2! I would take the chance if i were in danas shoes, he has everything to gain from it

Dana sees that it is a perfect advertisement opportunity for Pride. Pride is still not very well known in the US, but if they send their champion (wandy) and he beats the immensely popular "Eyesman" that would give Pride a huge boost in popularity in the States out of sheer curiosity. Dana knows this and he is not willing to risk the UFC's standing in the States.

thats his problem, but i would back my champion all the way. He should just take a chance and let it happen. It would generate MORE money than any other marquee fight hes staged

Agreed, I am curious to hear what Chuck and Dana have to say about the challenge in February that Wand issued. I think it will be addressed at some point during UFC 66, but more than likely it will be Dana making more excuses on why the fight won't happen.

I heard that Pride backed out of the fight two days after that show down during the ufc ppv. Pride used that stare down as pub and had no intention of doing the fight..... This fight would be huge , not so much for the fighters, but that it would be a great cross promotion, almost like when tyson under contract with showtime, fought lewis under contract with Hbo.

im not saying who would take who the ice man is as tuff as they come but i watched the last ufc and he looked a wee bit to comfortable in his seat next to dana in the front row :-\

Zuffa wants the fight in the UFC, DSE wants it in Pride. It probably won't happen because of this. Chack would do better under UFC rules. Cage to grab, cage to stand up against, eyes to poke, reach, looping punches equals KO. In Pride rules without an athletic commision, Vandy would kick his head soccer style into the front row.

Silva had a title belt from pride and the staredown began. Of course a few weeks later the fight was dropped.

There was never supposed to be a fight between Randy and Wandy. Wanderlei was promoting his Wand clothing line in the states at that time and bought his own ticket for that event, he wasn't called for that specific reason.Basically all Wandy did the first time was congratulate Randy. This latest in cage appearance, Dana actually brought Sakikabara and Wandy in, then went into details by announcing the fight and the date it was to happen if Chuck beat Babalu.

After seeing how badly CroCop fucked him up, I'm not so sure about Silva anymore. Esp. since Chuck is methodical and cool/calm like CroCop..

Cro-Cop is on another level technically when compared to Chuck. If Chuck fought Cro-Cop the fight would go much similar, if not identical to Silva/Cro-cop 2. Cro-Cop would kill the "Eyesman"!

You have got to be kidding me. Crocop is a world class striker, not a good MMA striker. The only similarities between CC and Chack is they are counter strikers with a good sprawl/takedown defense. Mirko has much better footwork, head movement, throws straight, efficient punches, changes levels on his kicks/inside/outside. In the cage or ring, Chack would have absolutely no chance against Mirko unless he catches him with a lucky punch. Your arguement is not valid.

Everybody has the punchers chance. Did you see the rematch. Mirko raped him. Mirko has beaten top flight strikers both in K1 and in Pride. Chack has not. He struggled with Tiger White, was getting killed by Alistair Overeem before he took him down. He struggled against the smaller Pele, shouldn't have beaten Murillo, struggled against Amar Suloev. When fighting grappler based MMA fighters, he can back up, do his sprawl/brawl/cage walk/Kempo eye poke/fence grab and counterpunch to KO fighters. Against someone like Mirko, who would take the center of the ring, and counter the counterpuncher with straight precision strikes, he would be forced to try and take him down.

Chuck would be in Pride and make more money on every fight if he thought he could be on top ;)
