Ok, I know it isn't Monday and rants are to saved til then but I just have to get this out and get over it!!!!!
I brought this up once before about the gal the comes in to the gym around 5:30 A.M. reeking of cologne -I do believe she must buy it in 55 gallon drums at an oulet store!! Anyway, I did go to the management of the gym and they never did anything about it nor did they come back to me with possible solutions. So after a couple of weeks, I told them that I would get in even earlier than I normally do, workout with the weights then do my cardio at home (I have an elliptical at home). The gym manager seemed quite happy with that as I could tell she didn't want to be the one to tell "Stinky" to clean up!
I have been going in earlier and getting my weight training in. I've been able to leave either before she arrives or as she is pulling in to the parking lot.
NOW, she is coming in earlier - about 15 minutes earlier. She wasn't in the gym (thank goodness) Monday and Tuesday of this week. So I chanced it by getting in a cardio workout too! This morning, I just finished with my first set and was ready to move on to the next, when I see her pull up in the parking lot. I thought - isn't anything sacred??? Our gym is a fair size gym, so I was at the farthest end away from the front desk - the minute she walked into the lockerr oom - oh my gawd - did she reek! and I and another guy could smell the stench down at the far end. Unfortunately it didn't get any better. Even though she was mainly working out at the other end of the gym you could still smell her at the other end. The one guy thinks she does this to get attention. I just don't know. What I do know is that I had to leave as this particular scent makes me very nauseous. She never had body odor before so why wear cologne or perfume at 5 in the morning. Maybe she doesn't take a bath or shower. UGHHHHH! I could just scream!!! I have some vacation time coming up in a couple of weeks and will be using it to check out a couple of other gyms close by. Going to this gym at a different time is not really a good option for me. So either I suck it up and try to adjust or just get out. >:(

you're the type of "woman" who makes wife beating seem justified.
1st I wanted to quote you because I know someone is going to delete it and I hate to see a funny line get deleted.
2nd I think the issue of a problem should always be taken to the person first. Give them a chance to explain why or make a correction before you start going to the club owner. They may not know it bothers you and could be a good person who would make a adjustment.If not the other thing that could happen is you kind of quietly embarress the person and they then avoid you. By going to the manager you put him in a lose lose situation. If if offends one he might lose a customer if he does nothing he might lose you. If nothing works you could always try vicks under your nose...:)

Well theres always the choice of waiting for her in the parking lot with a sock full of quarters...:)
Sucks but at least you have a forum to get it off your chest, its the small things in life that get you thru.

You must be new here...Sarcasm is anything but nice..Funny,quick witted,adept at breaking people down and loyal to his people but nice is not in there at all.

Actually, we can delete what people quote too, but since I'm so glad you have graced us w/your presence after such a long absence (from most of the boards) I'll leave it just for you :) (plus, 2Lean has already seen it).
And at my gym the gym manager WANTS us to come to him first if we ever have any problems because he probably thinks he can be less emotional than us (my workout partner and I) and thus, diffuse a situation as opposed to making it worse.
I guess he didn't have faith in us to handle a confrontation well when a complete dumba** left 2 dogs in his car on a hot day with the windows rolled up when he worked out in the air-conditioned gym. >:(
Oh, and 2lean, feel free to rant any day of the week at any time :)

start the stinky perfume fund...label a box and with managers permission start a donation at the front desk...
we did that for a guy that had been wearing the same friggin unwashed shirt to the gym for years...

Excuse me. Your perfume is waaay to offensive for a gym and at this ungodly hour. It makes me sick and as it does most of the members. Can you PLEASE stop wearing it so heavily? You embarrass yourself. Thank you.
Then figure out what treadmill or whatever she usually uses and put it onthe monitor. Tape it. Tape it to a few of them to ensure it gets to her.
Then act inconspicious. Do it on the DL...thank me later.

Personally, I wouldn't have any problem telling someone their perfume/cologne is too strong and is not necessary for the gym. That is was making me sick and if they continued their use of such that I would counter act the scent (if ya know what I mean ;))

Agreed. I would just approach that person and tell them straight out that they are stinking up the whole gym. If that doesn't work I would let management know and have them approach him/her.

Why not just mgmt post a huge sign saying that the gym policy would be no cologne or perfume, as some of the patrons are allergic. It's quite possibly she has an olfactory issue. If that doesn't work... tell her straight between the eyes, she's fouling up the place.

You guys are the best! ;D I haven't had a good laugh like this in a long while - shows what a dull life I have!!!! Anyway, the suggestions are quite good! As far as telling her to her face - one guy actually did and obviously it didn't sink in. I was talking to him this morning and we came up with a theory. If anyone remembers anything about History, back in the days when they didn't bathe on a regular basis, people would let's say bathe on Saturday and the days following would put cologne on everyday to help mask the body odor. We think that may be what she is doing because by Friday one almost needs a gas mask! The thing that is so bizarre in all of this is that this gal only drinks water that she boils every morning (of course it has gone through a filter first before she boils it) and she goes about once or twice a month to have these suction cup things put on her forehead to draw out all the impurities in her body. After one of these "treatments" she will come in with a great big bandaid on her forehead or if she doesn't wear one, she had these two great big red spots.
Cheri: I especially like your suggestion!!!! Broccoli, onions and garlic for supper tonight!!!! Oops, forgot the beans!!! Let 'er rip!!!!!!!
