Title: Fighting with teary eyes?
Post by: rugged_bloke89 on November 30, 2006, 11:25:17 PM
Why is it in alot of streetfights and fights in general i always see one or both of the blokes get teary eyed like his about to cry? I havent been in a proper fight for a while but i remember back when i did i myself would get teary eyed? is this like a scientific physiological reaction or is it inheriteed cause it doesnt happen to everyone

When you get hit right on the nose, esp. from a jab your eyes tear up..

Yeah tha nose is the only reason i get teary eyed sparring or in a real fight....It sounds like your saying that before you even get hit you cry....

it's the nose, tears are involuntary.

lol, na, considering i havent fought in a long time, (although i am going to begin boxing lessons hopefully) it would usually happen when the other guy would connect me in the nose (afterwards it kinda feels like i was about to sneeze, but for longer).
On that note what do you guys think about someone taking up boxing lessons if theyve had no prior professional training when it comes to fighting, anything i should know? ???

Like everyone has said, a clean shot to the nose will make your eyes tear up. It's pretty much involuntary, too.

Boxing is exellent to take 1st, but you'll want ground fighting too. I started with boxing then tai boxing then judo then Bjj, it also depends on weather u want it for fun, or to kick ass. Most street brawlers do some pritty dumb things. if ur well rounded and in halfway good shape you should be ok on the street.
But if some one is packin u better be packin too ;)

you're going to find out that cardio is just as or more important then strength.

::) Yes definitly plus u can let them tire out if there more skilled then when thier power and speed slows way down u stop the defence game and hammer em out. I won more than a few amature boxing matches where I was out skilled but never got tierd on the account of cardio.

They must have been in terrible shape if they were running out of gas during a amateur fight.....
