Just saw it, kinda surprised that there seem to be some names missing I would've expected to see on there and a few unexpected names on it....

Well they certainly seem to have pulled in a variety of competitors....

Jenny Lynn isn't coming back to try to reclaim the International?

Where is Julie Loher? With her excellent year that she had in 2006 and qualifying for the 2007 "O"  I'm really surprised shes not in the line up?!?! Not to mention how hot she looks in Flex this month. Shes a good friend of mine and I was blown away that she wasn't in the Fitness line up!  :'( :'( :'(

Jenny Lynn is sitting out the show as is Monica Brant and Christine Pomponio-Pate. Three of your top 6 in years past are out and while they're enjoying their holidays sans diet, some newbies enter the ranks. This will be a great show with no real clear cut winner. A number of these women were in the Olympia and placed well last year.

I see Amber Little-John is not on the list either.

Help...I need to understand the process of getting an invite.  As I always say, I am a fairly new fitness fan and really do not understand the whole concept. Do any of you veteran fitness fans know how they actually decide who gets an invite. If so,  can you please share your wisdom.......
Do they (I do not even know who they are) sit in a room and discuss?
Do they look at past placings?
Are they looking for a specific type of fitness athlete?
Am I totally naive and is it all political?

I guess when I look at the list of fitness girls I see 10 that I assumed would be there,  3 that I can understand why and 2 that I am confused over.

Can someone clear this up for me......
Thanks!

I believe Amber's last show was the West Palm Beach and is no longer competing.

I too am very confused about the fitness line up.  I expected the usual names (Adela, Kim, Jen, etc.), and I also understand that the new national champions are always invited (Amy and Holly).  This all makes sense.  However, I am confused about the criteria for selecting (or not selecting) some of the other athletes.  Take Julie L. for example.  She placed well all year and (more than once) beat out a couple of girls who are invited.  This almost seems like a mistake.  What went wrong there?  Also, athletes who barely competed in 2006 and/or did poorly at the Olympia and Arnold are invited again this year.  It just seems odd.  Maybe I am missing something  ???

Thanks Katie & Lori!  It is nice to hear that kind of support from my fellow competitors.  I have to say that I am very disappointed not to be competing at the Arnold.  It has been a dream of mine since I first came to the expo 4 years ago carrying my little boy (3 months old at the time) in a backpack carrier.  That Fitness International is what inspired me to compete in the first place and 2 months after that expo experience, I won the overall at my first show.  Having Columbus as only an hour and a half drive from my home does make it sting a bit too.

Anyhow, what can you do.  Like most others, I paid my IFBB fee and sent letters & photos to the appropriate people.  I had hoped that my hard work over the last 2 years along with my placings and my 2007 Olympia qualification would help me make the list.

Well, congrats to the ladies on the list.  I am sure I will see some of you at the Olympia.  Katie & Lori - I hope to see you both there too!
Have a Merry Christmas,
Julie

The Fitness International lineup is stacked and I can't point to anyone on the list who doesn't deserve to be there. Every invitational will have several people who are estatic and others who are left shaking their heads wondering why they missed out.

Let's be real here peeps - despite the newbies coming into the picture and others getting an invite the top three won't change unless one of them retires. Adela, Jenny H and Kim Klein are the top three pros in the fitness world and as long as they are in the line-up, that's your top three.

She's back to bodybuilding and she is what female bodybuilding should look like, in my opinion (and many others). I hope Cathy kicks some ass and sets the stage for what FBB should go back to.

Interview with her about it at:

Congratulations and good luck to all the competitors.  It should be a great show and an interesting season.

Terry interviewed Jenny Lynn as to why she's sitting out the Arnold this year.  It's on the Bodysport home page now in our "Featured Articles" section if you'd like to check it out.

Latisha has the best package on that stage.

Should be a good show without the regular girls who always place top 3.

Surprised to see Zena Collins and Debbie Leung on the list.  2 3rd tier girls who have already been on the Arnold stage, and both seem to have had there best days.
( I am aware of the JM and Davies factor )

Would have liked to see a couple more rookie girls instead.

(Fitness/Figure mixed together)

Julie Lohre, Monica Brant, DJ Wallis, Kendra Ellis, Elaine Goodlad, Jenny Lynn (she has competed a lot this year so I can understand the break), Davana (I know that will not

happen) and probably others that I will think of later.

Julie Wallis = DJ Wallis   ;)

Monica didn't put in she needed a break. Elaine is always a stunning addition to the lineup and I agree, Kendra would have been a welcome addition.

I think with these people sitting out there is a clear cut winner Mary lado.

It all depends on how Mary comes into the show. If she shows up like last year's ASC - yes, she will repeat as the champ. If she looks like she did at the Olympia, the door is left open for a new champ. She looked great at the Arnold but wasn't on top of her game at the O.

Look for Gina Aliotti and Amanda Savell to be in the mix for the ASC title.

Congrats to all the athletes with invites to the Arnold, it's going to be a great one.

Julie, my friend, don't sweat it girl, you're going to the Olympia in 07 and I know you'll make a huge impression there!  That's gotta feel great.....!

At least for everyone not competing in the Arnold there's no dieting over the holidays.....and speaking of, happy holidays to everyone!!  I am SO looking forward to catching up with everyone next season!

I think Heather Pollicky is going to be a force to be contended with in the Bodybuilding. This girl has it all! Beauty, size and cuts, I think she stands a really good chance of being the next Miss O...I'd like to see Tanji Johnson place really well since she's my homie, as for figure, well I don't follow that too closely since it's more of a beauty contest than an actual physical event...IMO

Can anyone explain the process for the line up at the Arnold.  did monica and jenny turn it down or just did not apply?  do they have to send in paper work or is it some deal where they get a phone call.so an invitation is declined and the next on the list is asked.  who determines this?  not all the over all champs from national shows get an automatic invite.  Bethany terrill was not given an invite, neither was Terry Mooney that same year.  is there not a rhyme or reason to this  How is it selected.  It is rumored that fitness pro Dena Lee was invited and then turned them down.   who is bethany gainey? i have never heard of her?  this seems to be an odd selection process.  is valerie doing her very bizarre quarter turns again?

Prediction or just plan ol boring fact? In Figure Mary Lado would have to come in looking like Nicole Richie not to place first. Come on now, connect the dots. Was she or was she not the golden girl this year going to Hollywood and becoming a big star who would run off and marry Superman due to her amazing management company? How will she do that if she can't even win the AC?  As far as second place, who knows. If Valerie utilizes her God given genetics and acts anything but bizarre she could have a chance at it, but my money will be on Gina A coming in second.

Honestly, the AC just does not excite me anymore enough to pay plane fare across the country. The fact that many of the top competitors in Figure do not bother competing is an indication of a problem to me. I talk to the big guy Mr. Terminator himself and even he doesn't want to go this year (something about his political agenda and his need to stab an industry in the back that has put bread and butter on his table for years or something like that). He told me they keep naming the thing after him so he kind of has to show up. Wouldn't it be great if Valerie won and starting acting all "creative" and expressive to the Govenator. In the words of Paris Hilton, "That would be Hot".  ;D Um mm, just kidding.  ::)

Actually, Valerie is who I am truly hoping will win. Of all the people competing she has the best structure, genetics and is very pretty. She is also one of the only top competitors that is not part of the JM's team in the show so it would be interesting like when Jen H won in Fitness. I would be ecstatic if either of the Gina's won (just because I think they are really sweet and cool people).  I mean come on this is definitely not a show that historically can be counted on to pick the competitor who shows up in the best shape. (This is not to say the Gina's don't have incredible bodies. They do!)

Issac, I love you sweetie but you stepped around the piles of dodo about the selection process or lack there of for the AC. There are definitely people competing today that are only there because there are signed and in this show and in Pittsburg that is a very important criteria.  Oh, and who I think in Fitness that should be there and is not...... Julie L, Julie L, Julie L. What was with that! She is gorgeous, top notch talent and has great legs.

I will miss you all though. Give love to those that are close to me. If things get wild and funky.... think of me.
