I went to try them at baleys the other day and was using 2 1/2 plates per side on it like it was nothing(pulldowns and rows). I was mixing it up with free weights and was training on an empty stomach and four hour drive there! It was funny there was a dude that came in in a sweatshirt and I thought he was pretty big. Then he started taking it off one layer at a time. The 200+ pound monster became 170 pounds and he was asking me what sups I was taking. He told me he was on cell tech and wanted my advice. This took place at Baleys!

How do you feel about the Bow Flex?
-
You drove 4 hours to a Bally's Total Fitness?
That's an OWNING right there, alexxx...
You had...2-2.5lb plates each side?
Maybe the new generation of nautilus equipment is 'easier' but have you ever used the first generation equipment? Wroguht iron...chain link equipment?

No it was a road trip. Everyone went to shop so in the mean time I decided to go train.

Then you should have put on 5 plates a side. It's not rocket science.
-
Alex how old are you?
You sound like you are maybe 12-14. I mean I seen your picture but by some of your posts you sound like a very childish guy that probably has a small room in his parents house with posters on the wall. you know one of those kids that have no friends, girlfriends and are very limited in general. Only this will explain some of your posts. Like this one for example.

you forget that this is Alexxx we are speaking about here....it is rocket science to him
one day he will learn about the pulley system, about how different machines have different size pulleys. And so depending on which manufacturer it is he may be able to rack the tricep press down with form.
-
Idiots!
-
Alexxx, are you entering the cyber classic?
-
lol, Alexxx...here is one for you. At the NYSC in Brooklyn we have the Nautalus uni-lateral bench press (the one where you lay on your back). Throwing up 4 plates per side isn't too big a deal....but that shit does't translate to the bench press :(
but it is great for an ego pump
-
Alexxx, are you entering the cyber classic?
I was not aware it is on and I am not a subscriber but I just might.
-
the nautilus pullover machine is great..also different machines have different leverages nothing new about that.,
-

You would win for sure.
-
All nautilus machines are easy! SteelePegasus just proved my point. Machines are useless!
-

My money is on Candidate...he has lost 50lbs of fat...40lbs more and will be at 15% bf. Then it is on....
-
well then put on 5 plates per side. ::)
-

not really, they make for great drop sets without the need for spotter.
lol, trying going to total failure on the bench press without spotter
-

He does look a hell of a lot better though. Alexxx would walk through the competition over at MD, but they might be biased against getbiggers. :(
-
machines are better than free weights because they force you to use good form, easier to load/unload, less risk for injury, can go to failure without spotter as said.
-
Regarding nautilus weight stacks. Nautilus made a women's line that looks some what like their general line. I used a women's super pullover not knowing it was the women's model. I put the pin on the bottom stack and did 12 easy reps. I could never do that with the real Nautilus Super pullover machine.
-
i miss the nautilus super forearm machine they had at my college. It would do forward and reverse wrist curls, and pronation/supination twisting motion all on one machine...you could switch so quickly from one to the other and superset all 4 exercises and by the time you were done on it your forearms would be so swelled with blood and the veins popping out all over you would feel like fuckin popeye.
That machine was awesome, I wish they had one at my gym.
-
Was this before or after your 200 gram protein meal? :-X
-
I miss the shrug machine. There was nothing like it before and nothing like it since.
-
Nautlius Machines are solid(especially pullovers). Alexxx, quit your mission against intensity style training. Also its not about weight on the machines but INTENSITY. Driving 4 hours to Ballys? Moron. Was this on your way back from Arnolds bedside? ;D
-
Are we mistaking Hammer Strength equipment for Nautilus?
-
the old natilus machines were awsome...I don't know about the new ones. They had a cool old pulldown machine...I've never tried one of the old ones I didn't like.
-
Alexxx must train at home. Never been in a gym.
-
The original Nautilis pullover machine (as seen in Blood and Guts) is the best machine ever made...
-
machines are better than free weights
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA
-
The nautilus leg extension was very nice too. The tricep press and preacher curl were also good naut machines
-
the pulldown machine has pads that go under you're elbows so it totally takes you're grip out of the equation, it's really hard to describe but the range of motion is so much different than anything I've ever tried before. The shrug machine is great also. They have a bi machine that's really cool. All the old stuff was great, I wish there were gyms around that still had that stuff, I only know if one place that has the 3 machines I mentioned above.
-
Are we mistaking Hammer Strength equipment for Nautilus?
I was thinking the same thing. ;D
-
I had heard along time ago that natilus has a ton of the old equipment in a warehouse but can't sell it or even give it away cause they have a lawsuit going with someone...wonder if this is true?
-

Nautilus does make a line of plate-loaded equipment, but I've never seen it in many places. It's rather ghetto when compared to Hammer Strength or the Cybex plate-loaded stuff.

I will correct myself..I checked this morning and it is a Cybex plate loaded bench press (lay on your back). As I stated earlier it has zero correlation to the bench press.

Brutal fake story.
I don't mind machines, though I barely use them. They have their place in training.
-

You should be killed for actually driving four hours to workout at Bally's.

i can't even imagine how pathetic that other guy must have been if he was asking you for advice.

Maybe he was going to see loads of hot chics ?

The original Nautilis pullover machine (as seen in Blood and Guts) is the best machine ever made...
I agree. I am happy to say that I OWN one...it's blue, wrought iron...chain link but it has a 250lb weight stack...not plate load like Dorians.
Bought it for $200 from a (former) gym owner who was closing down...said NOBODY ever used it and he thought it was a waste of space. In this day and age I aint suprised that nobody used it.
In MY gym the ONLY ones who use it are the handful of competitors who dwell in there. Everyone els thinks first off...it's a TRICEP machine or dont know what it is peroid. I seen people do 'crunches' on it. It's amazing.
I also have the first generation Nautilus lateral raise machine. Awesome piece. I dont like the military press part of it but for laterals...feels better than anything Icarian, Cybex, Life Fitness ever made.

is it the one with the pads that go under your upper arms? That is the BEST lat machine I've ever used...I'd buy one in a minute if I could find one.

At CLUB INDUSTRY last October in Chicago.
Big trade show-expo for all equipment manufacturers.
I asked the reps at NAUTILUS why ' why do they not make the original BEST machines like they used to instead of the 'NITRO' line.
They all agreeed that the first generation nautilus that Arthur Jones advocated were the most indestructible, most scientific most prolific muscle building machines ever created.
They said because of times changing and big corporate chain gyms bringing fitness to the avarage joe...those machines weren't pretty to look at and deemed "too hardcore". They arent aesthetically pleasing and some said in a POLL that they look 'midevel' and intimidating, hence...you can find them anymore. Nautilus had to go with the trend to survive financially.
As hardc ore gyms started to fall and the rise of the corporate health spas started to flourish...the first generation nautilus machine went into hiding.
It's a shame.

the first gen. nautilus machines you're talking about were the best ever made. We used to have a "nautilus gym" in my area, I went in there once when I was about 16 but didn't really understand how to use the stuff. If I had access to them now I'd use them alot, the ones I have access to right now which are in a small gym in my area that I go to once every other month just to do something different are great.

There are still 2 Nautilus gyms here, both owned by the same guy. They've been around for over 20 years. They both have the full line of the old Nautilus machines. Those machines are truly indestructible. They are all equipped with the weight stacks. The chain links on those things are huge and thick. I don't think you could break one of those chain links if you tried. That was the first gym I joined when I first started working out. I used that exact pullover machine you have in your gym Block. Of course I was new and stupid and had clue to use that reverse grip that Dorian used. If I only knew then what I know now.
-
I know, right!
They are made of pure wrought iron and if an atomic mega bomb hit the US...they only thing that would survive and be unphased would be cockroaches and 1st generation Nautilus Machines.
It goes to show how truly young and immature and unappreciative alexxx really is for him to kncok old school nautilus machines. Goes to show his expierence level.
I remember my old highschool had a bunch of Nautilus and back then I didnt think anything of it. It was about 3 yrs ago I went to my old highschool and asked the power that be if they still had it and if they would sell it etc...
The 'new fitness center', not weight room, 'fitness center' was all changed and nobody knew what happened to all the Nautilus stuff...everything replaced by Life Fitness.
My guess is Brunswick(lifefitness) people came in...took out the Nautilus and sold it to a refurbishing company.
-
Are you still supposed to do only one set with Nautilus? I went to one of those gyms when I was a kid and I was told to do one set to failure.

yes but it's not supposed to be a "conventional" set....

which gym do you workout at that has these old school nautilus machines?

pullover machines, are some of the greatest inventions ever created.
-
Dorian Yates- in Blood N Guts? Ain't that a Nautilus pullover machine he beats up on?
-
Yeah well my advice is to just stay away from them muscle tech steroids alexxx, if he offers you anything just say no tell that guy he's gonna end up with huge muscles 22.5% bigger than jay cutlers, tragedy waiting to happen here im afraid
