This thread is to see which radio show you like better. MD or PBW. I was personally outraged by last nights broadcast. Valentino opening up his personal life along with fuck being thrown around every word was too much for me. It sounded like a guido family reuninion. Discuss...
-
I like PBW. Last nights show was fucking horrible. WTF does Gregg getting brocolli on his dick have to do with bodybuilding? They are all fuckin idiots and I am done with their show and their mag. Chick is way better!

Yeah. Chick is a proffessional and good speaker. I gave MD my address and phone number ofr a Mag subscription and it has been a month and they still can't even send my a bloody bill to collect money. Gives me an idea of how things are run over there. I will never buy nor pick up to read an MD mag again until some major changes are made.

I can tell everyone now Adonis and I have something huge in the works that will totally ruin their business. It is up to him though when to reveal the information. I am personally sick and tired of they nonsense they spew.

If you can ruin their business, just do it. No one here likes those types of meaningless threats, this isn't MD. If you can do it, do it ;)
-
No Bull was decent at the start when Pepe directed things with Branch. One question from the "No Bull" guys went unasked with Branch. Any one else catch that? It went straight down the shitter when Valentino started bragging about banging a tranny in the ass. I like John and Dave, nice guys, but the Howard Stern wannabe act isn't working. The show is strongest when they stick to what model Pepe does, respect the guest - get into their training, diet, and have some fun but not who did you bang last type questions. Palumbo talking about his diet ideas and what he's doing with Toney Freeman the week before were good.
Paul did a nice job of side stepping whether he's competing in the PDI or not.

I understand where you are coming from. As i said it is up to Adonis. I will only be speaking for most of the thread.
-
the gap has widened. pro bodybuilding weekly used to be a call in, haphazard show. suddenly they have like 8 of the Olympians, including Arnold, and they're on Siruis. On the other hand, MD has alienated the other forums and has even removed any links on its forum to bodybuilding.com or probodybuildingweekly.co m
that is stopping the whole *sport* from growing, and its selfish.

I just want you to do it, I hate MD. :D

i only listen to pbw

As i said i don't have the info. I can't reveal it until he is ready.
-
As i said i don't have the screen caps. Those files aren't on my computer.
Sooner or later though, right?

Agreed. I liked when they were interviewing Branch. Valentino was over the top/

If i had them i would put them out now.

Paul who?

MD is a bit clumsy. PBW is cleaner and more professional
-

Agreed. Another good opinion. Anyone who likes MD over PBW is clearly off in the head. It is ok when they are interviewing but most of them time nothing can be heard as everyone talks over each other.
-
right and then there is a silent pause because they all ask a question at the same time and then wait for the response at the same time.

LOL!! Yeah. Typical group think. MD really is run by a bunch of monkeys.
-
Paul who?
Sorry T man - PBW's guest, Paul Dillett.
-
right and then there is a silent pause because they all ask a question at the same time and then wait for the response at the same time.
Some of the logistics are difficult when everyone is in a different location. No one is trying to interrupt or talk over anyone, but there are logistical and technical issues that make it hard to tell when someone else is talking. Ideally, having everyone in the studio like Howard Stern's Show solves most of those problems.
I didn't hear any comments about Franco or Paul's interviews. Anything novel or interesting? Is it true that Paul came on the show with pretty much only one question on everyone's mind and he didn't answer it? (Whether he's going to compete in the PDI?)
Special "Burbank" Ed
-
Paul indirectly answered it....said he doesnt post on any board, said he wishes to compete in the Olympia again, pledged his allegience to the IFBB...said he would love to be involved with the NPC/IFBB on some level...I believe it pretty much answers it.
-

Then what about his own organization that he just launched? What's going on here guy
-
What about it?
-
You just said that Paul wishes to compete in the Olympia again, wouldnt that interfere with his own organization due to contracts? Man i'm really getting lost here with all the crossover revolutionary outstanding assumptions these athletes make
-
What PAUL wishes and what he may be entitled to do are most likely two different things...I'm only stating what Paul said.
-

No i know bro i'm not coming down on you, i'm just saying there's a lot of ahem-ahem delusional assumptions being spread around to the "fans" for publicity purposes dont ya agree? Not towards Paul specifically but others as well. C'mon let me hear it Chic show some balls man
-
not sure where you're coming from..ask a specific question and i'll give you a specific answer...no need to mince words, were all family here....
-
I feel embarassed for Larry Pepe. I am sure this aint the type of show he had in mind.
As a listener of internet radio and a BB fan, I dont want to hear on BB shows details of UFC fights, Trannies or Special Ed struggling for quality laughs.
-

Paul want's to have his cake and be able to eat it too. It appears that ideally he wants the backing of the IFBB to be they're feeder to the pro ranks but wont rule out a deal with PDI should push come to shove.
-

Delusions of a droopy titted teenager. ::)

Alright let's be a straight shooter on this. As a fan of IFBB and amateur BB i pretty much follow everything from training, diet, interviews and etc. What gets to me at times is the BS that i hear just to impose publicity. For example in Paul Dillet's case since that's how the conversation started if he has his own organization why even say he would like to join the Olympia? So how would Paul play a role from his organization into the Olympia meanwhile somebody from the PDI can't? I dont get it maybe i'm missing something here bro
-
pure wishful thinking on Paul's behalf....probability is zero. the only way it would be allowed is if his Canadian organization was akin to a "npc/Canada" type of alliance...
unlikely to happen....
-
Delusions of a droopy titted teenager. ::)
Funny how even at 17% bf in that picture i still own anything you could ever even become. You have a pathetic existance.

Hey Siouxcountry.. Hypothetical Q 4 U... what do you think might happen if you lifted this thread with both sides discussed (negative and positive) from here (a bb.com sponsored site) to MD???
Do you agree it probably would be deleted? IF that happened would that change your perception of their "No Bull" site?
-

I posted my suggestion on the No Bull forum about the bannings. I see people complaining about threads getting deleted here as well. I don't believe there is a true no bull board, and never will be.
How long do you think Buttsuck would last on this board if he fucked with Ron Avidan, as he did with John Romano?
-

Many people got banned who never fucked with Romano or anyone else that runs that site. That would never happen here. That was a good suggestion though, but it is probably too late for that site, it kind of sucks now.

This thread is a debate which hasn't (yet) turned nasty.. and you admit it wouldn't last on MD.. that's in my book.. wrong. Of course threads get deleted and rightly so if they are malicious.
Buttsuck would honestly last slightly longer around Ron, however if Buttsuck was put in time out.. he would eventually be able to resume on the main board if he appologised...not "whacked" ::)

I graced the time out section with my prescence for over a month. They cried when i left.

I don't know what it is but PBW definitely seems to exhibit more class. I'm not a prude, but I prefer not to hear people discussing things like having sex with a tranny on the radio. I tune in for bodybuilding info and the like. Maybe PBW is so much better because Chick has more speaking experience, or because they get better guests..Just a thought..

No, Chick exhibits himself as a proffesional and doesn't discuss pulling pieces of brocolli out of a trannys butt.

I am surprised that No Bull doesn't get fined for violating the laws of decency. Oh wait...I forgot no one pays enough attention to the show to care.

Regardless i think they know the rules. If it isn't someone please feel more the happy to report them lol

It's not the rules...the internet is like the wild west..anything goes.
Point being...is it good radio?
Does it add anything to the show to be throwing f-bombs all over the place?
Does it lend to the credability of the show?

Of course it doesn't. It makes Romano a bigger idiot then he already appears to be. I personally don't care for his haughty smug attitude. Funny how he thinks he is so smart when it is apparent he is just the opposite. I literally felt embarrased for him when he was blaring off about the 1300 pound man and was literally blushing for him. What an embarrasment to bodybuilding.
-
thanks md for setting bodybuilding back 10 years
-
i never listen to that retarded bull radio.its cap.i once heard that don long interviwe and i started to have headeaches.PBW should not be even used in the same sentence with bull radio, its a fuckin insult to PBW.PBW is light years ahead of this pornographic radio show of MD .chick is more professional, the guest are better, chick also sometimes messes around with the guests and that puts alot of more enjoyment into the show, dan solomon also handles the show pretty well.so on the whole PBW is a true hradcore bodybuilding radio show.bull radio is just bullshit

PBW doesn't have to rely on schtick or the tabloid angle to keep their listeners interested.
If you know anything at all about Papa Dan Solomon, then you know why the show is as classy as it is. Dan developed the concept for the show, because he really wanted the program to happen and to become successful, which it has. The other people who've later decided to do bodybuilding radio online have done so because Dan (and Chick) did it.
As for the Paul D thing, I, too, was under the impression that he had just announced the formation of his new bodybuilding organization, which is why I thought I'd completely missed something when it was suggested that he might try PDI, but was for certain continuing his relationship with the IFBB.

Podcasting and online radio shows have been around a long time. Props to Dan for having the marketing sense to be the first to market it to the bodybuilding world. There were others interviewing Ronnie and Jay for their online radio shows before PBW, but were not successful as they didn't know how to market their product. Dan and Bob marketed their product to bodybuilding and put them on the map as the industry leader.
They are the show which others are compared to and admittedly others fall short. Pepe did a great job on his own with Muscle Radio as he has a relationship with the athletes and is able to get their stories. He brings that out of the guests but combining him with the No Bull crew is not the same. As a bodybuilding fan, I don't want to hear about Valentino talking about banging a tranny. It's more interesting to hear about Dave Palumbo's diets or Larry addressing their training. No Bull's first show was great as they covered the Olympia the next day but since then it's failed to match up.
MD had a chance to be another credible online source for news and bodybuilding info, given their list of competitors under contract as well as the staff. They had a chance to establish themselves with more credibility by adding Larry Pepe and Bill Comstock to their productions but failed to utilize their strong points.

well said.
Further to that, I get a feeling that there are some in the MD crew that are taking what they're doing for granted. Should they realise what limited publicity bodybuilding gets outside of North America, I don't think they would be so flippant in their programming.
-
They can't compete with pbw so they are trying something else, but lets face it, every show it manages to go further down hill. I also gotta ask, do they listen to themselves talk? Last week Ronnie being a racists was just hype by pbw and wieder for the olympia ronnie was not a racists, and everyone should drop it. This week they are asking branch warren about it. Last week they also claim that could could of gotten glass to phone in and claim he could not make pbw, have they opened a magazine lately and seen where his face is inside it? All over the muscle-tech ads, the same company that also sponsers pbw, is that really a pissing contest md would want to get into? They are expanding to fast, the store, the fourms, the radio show, they need to slow down a little bit and evalutate each product individually, cause right now it looks like no traffic on the site, a bunch of fake products in the store, and larry pepe on the radio sounds like he is getting pissed off more and more every show.

I'd be pissed too, 13mins BB content in 54minutes of programming.

Too embarrasing to stay there any longer. Romano was terrible and valentino pushed it too far.

Well..Truthfully we don't even know if the show will last long..I'm assuming he can opt out of his contract with them.

The bomb is getting ready to be dropped. The people have already weighed in..Most everyone seems to be in agreement that that show needs put out of its misery. I believe the only way to fix it is to fire the clowns on there now. Get rid of Palumbo, Romano, Greg, and all the other clowns with no media savvy.

PBW has turned into a great show. No Bull is just a utter mess it has nothing to do with bodybuilding or anything of real value, unless throwing cuss words, and banging tranny's is what bodybuilding is about??
-
How is PBW better than No Bull? PBW is an ass kissing radio show, imagine how far they'd stick their tongue up Joe Weider's ass if he was on the show?

I am not going to pass judgment on either show, but I will say this: From what I can tell, MD is going after a different niche than PBW, and using different growth goals.
Pro Bodybuilding Weekly is going for the mainstream bodybuilding & fitness audience. They got Arnold, they got Sirius, they are looking like a serious media force in the future as they get more face time and coverage with the webcast events. They are here to stay, and establishing a strong foothold in enough areas that they are dependent on none.
MD, on the other hand, is going for a very small, yet perhaps less casual group. They are shooting for the hardcore, animal types that read MD and frequent the message boards. They are more dependent upon the forums- if MD forum attendance falls, their audience falls significantly. PBW, on the other hand, loses a much smaller % of its listener base if getbig fails.
PBW is best for the 20-50 year old fan, following the sport because you like today's greats and greats from years past. The forum is clean and you can listen to it with the family. MD is for the 13-25 group who enjoys profane antics and hit-or-miss attempts at radioic ownings. Higher highs, lower lows.
Interesting is the recent move by MD to 'take on' PBW by banning the link, and all links to BBing.com and others. IMO, competition is NOT what they want at this point, as PBW owns them on market share and growth rate. If I ran MD, I would be doing everything possible to form an amicable relationship with PBW and benefit from the growth of the sport. By closing links to outside boards, they are also closing the influx of listeners. And, pissing off decision makers at the larger organizations.
MD is now in a position where it can only further try to reinforce its renegade niche, as the bridges burned prevent a mutually beneficial relationship with the larger BBing.com/PBW. They've made their bed, so now they should work to ensure the sheets are clean and they meet the needs of their very small niche of listeners. I am curious how they will grow this listener base though - the # of MD mag and board members is much more finite, than PBW's potential audience of all BBing.com readers and webcast viewers, plus Sirius and armed forces network. In other words, MD can have EVERY reader and board member listening, 100% saturation of potentials, and still pale in comparison with the number of casual listeners that the Arnold interview on PBW will grab on Sirius in one week alone. Not a strong position for longterm growth.
It's nothing against either group, just my own analysis looking at both.
-
PBW is best for the 20-50 year old fan..
I agree with your comments Rob. How did you derive at 20-50 year olds? And not the coveted 18-34 year old demographic?
-
I agree with your comments Rob. How did you derive at 20-50 year olds? And not the coveted 18-34 year old demographic?
I altered it slightly based upon past olympians and the years they won. A 14-year old who watched Larry Scott win his Sandows would be in his mid-50s today, so I skewed it upward.

can anyone think of a radio show that has 3 hosts? either romano or palumbo needs to be dropped. the badass/controversial/howard stern wannabe shit doesnt work. we get enough shit already then we have these clowns at md pushing us into a deeper subculture. we dont want that- which is why pbbw has taken of and why md will go belly up.. the last time i went to the newstand they guy said they no longer carry md,, but they had natural muscle. keep up the good work md ::)

Done did it! You know, I think Jay won the Olympia based on his karma status + me meeting him last summer + his 27 postings on GetBig a few months before the show. He obviously knows how to play his cards.
Plus, you must remember Ronnie failed to show up a week before the O. :(

Rumor is Larry Pepe is leaving the show. I don't know if it's true or not but it would be a smart move on his part. He did much better on his own before with Muscle Radio.

Excellent post.
The only thing I'd say is that there is room for some element of 'tabloidism' in the industry. But even at that, the program needs to be about the personalities and gossip in bodybuilding, and not about the hosts. If their goal is to merely expand the platform of Valentino, then they should just give him his own show..."The GV Listen To Me Hour" or whatever. Covering gossip is hard work, but can play huge dividends if they'll go about it the right way.
For now, though, they're going to need to DEFINE who they are and what they want the show to be about. At some point, listeners are going to get tired of homegrown tranny gang-bang stories.
