It does seem kind of insane to have to keep chasin muscle at that age. Sort of like a never ending ritual, its gotta get real boring after a while.
When is science gonna hurry up and figure out a way that we can keep our hard earned muscle permanently/ Theres got to be a way. Maybe The True Adonis has the answer?

i met him around 4 year ago at my gym, he was in town doing a signing for his book which had just come out not long before that, he was one of the nicest guys i've ever talked to, absolutely unreal condition, he asked me if he could use some of my chalk, he was doing some supersets on arms.

absolutely, we had a Monolift, deadlift platform, db's up to 200 pounds, different bars, machines that George Turner made personally, handpainted murals on the walls, awesome place.

I don't need dumbells anywhere near 200 pounds but I'd love it if I could use chalk for the deadlifts
we even had a special deadlift bar, thin deeply knurled handle that was a little longer than a normal bar that bent a little in the middle, we had a deadlift platform in the back where people pulled their deadlifts, we had a number of APF level powerlifters and a number of very good bodybuilders training there.

Unlike Zane, Dave is growing old gracefully and is one of the true legends of bodybuilding. If any of you saw the bio of Dave that was on E!, you would know that he went through hell in his life (a lot of it started by Uncle F*CK Joe) but he has come out of the experience much stronger and he is so successful now it's incredible. His wife is a really lovely lady if you ever get the chance to meet or email her.

sounds like my weightlifting local in high school !
damn I loved training there. I hated weightlifting movements tought like the clean and jerk and the snatch.
too techincal for me. but it was a great place to do basic movements like squats and deadlifts.
my partner was a big fucker. we were 16 at the time and he was a huge farmer about 5'10 and he weighted 290 pounds. Very fat but he had huge bones and a lot of muscle too for a guy who didn't train at all. the very first time he deadlifted he did something like 230 kgs :o not bad for a 16 years old first timer. he did 260 at the end of the year.
now I heard he competes at the national level in weightlifting here in canada ( wich isn't that great cause Canada sucks at weightlifting ;D)

we even had a Mr. America winner from the early 80's there who kind of worked there who was the nicest guy and he'd answer any question you had about nutrition or training, the guy was 45 and still in phenomenal condition.

that is a dumb thing to say. he obviously enjoys working out and so what is he missing out on if he is doing what he loves?
its sad there is some preconceived idea of what you are supposed to be happy doing at certain ages in life.

Not. Mentally & physically it can remain great, whether gaining or maintaining muscle. Maybe even better since it maintains the feeling and energy of youth.
Dave's a real nice Jersey guy, no attitude. Keep in mind he went through hell with drug addiction and almost died, so he's aged even more than he would have. Sold the gyms recently. Very good BB site he runs.

THE classic Draper shot. The best arm shot in the late 60s when he was as known as Schwarzenegger was in the 70s. Arnold's arms were a little bigger but Dave had better density and separation as well as better forearms.

He was only being paid wages he'd originally been paid working at Weider's warehouse first in the NY area then continuing when they moved to LA. Somewhere along the line he realized other BBs like Schwarzenegger were getting better pay and he took Joe to court for payments related to his endorsements, mag articles, etc. No coincidence he stopped being featured in Muscle Mag around that time.
Apparently the jury found in Dave's favor, which would've meant over a million dollar payout, but Dave decided instead not to wait to contest it and accepted 20K instead.
