Title: Chick - who was your strongest training partner?
Post by: Scimowser on February 06, 2007, 08:03:03 PM
I know that Kamali likes to throw around numbers he really couldnt imagine doing, but was Tom Prince as strong as he was made out to be? I mean 455 shoulder presses for reps etc is unreal, and the guy was built like a mutant.

What was your most productive way of trainnig, did you like to match the big numbers or did you go for the reps?

can you give any exampes of the poundages he used at his peak? The guy was a beast, absolutely massive and thick all over. I dont know why everyone has a go at him cos i wasnt around when he used to post - if it was even on here when he did - but i always admired the guy for his genetics and power.

Tom Prince had the sickest hamstrings in bodybuilding. They didn't even look real.

Lets see...I've trained with him when he's done seated DB curls with the 90's....front shoulder press on the Smith Mach with 5 plates/side....hack squats with 11 plates/side....squat 700....front pulldown for back with 400 lbs....Flex leverage chest press with 5 1/2 plates/side....

thats sickening, how can anyone manage those lbages? was the 700 for reps Chick? All ive heard about him is he could military press 455 for 3 reps, bench 550 for a couple, curl the 100's etc but wasn't sure if it was true. How the hell did you keep up with him? Also, to answer my original question, what was your preferred method when training with him - high reps at a reduced weight or low reps to look respectable next to him?  ;D

Keep up with him? You must be joking....

I was always respectable when it came to strength, but no where near this freak...there's a reason we called him

I remember on Mayhem (http://www.chadnicholls.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2061&highlight=Hack) when he said that he did 12 plates aside. Said he only got three reps, but he got it. I guess you weren't with him when he did that? <Not being snide, just asking, really>
Did TP ever say anything to you when you two didn't train together, like "Yeah Bob, I got 12 plates aside for hacks today!" Kind of in a show off manner, or rather, that you two were just generally interested in each others lifts/progress.

No...he never bragged about his poundages, it was just his way of training.

Since you said TP told you to "say it to his face"...we can obviously assume you were talking like a tough guy back then also....guy's like you are a dime-a-dozen.

No, it's  not true...don't know where you get your stories from.

Your posts give you away...you're a sad, pathetic little fuck, another wannabe that's got a chip on his shoulder a mile wide because he couldn't make it...now the only way to think you're important is to post anonymously on an internet board, and try to bring everyone else down to your level so you have company....

Scram loser...

yes, we (pros) always get lots of people approaching...as most people dont get to see a pro bb all that often, they get a kick out of us....they are so unfamiliar with our sport that they are fascinated by the whole thing, which always turns into a 2o min. Q/A....

Oh yeah...2 shoulder surgeries, 1 miniscus, 1 umbilical hernia.

I'm sure if given the choice to do it over again, he would have made many different (and smarter) choices....I truly believe he could have been one of the best...

I learned a long time ago from some of the best in the business both BB and PL that you should always listen to your body.  Even if you have a routine and plan, listen to your body and adjust or modify accordingly. I never write a routine, I use a loose idea of what body part I want to work that day and then as my body tells me I choose which exercises and to what extent I go.  Knock on wood, 15 years and no major injuries using this technique.

da_bi_da,

thanks for ur advice! i agree...i used to be abit of a 'hero' in the gym...trying to lift too heavy and doing heavy shoulder dumbell press, close grip bench, and deads and rows.

lets just say i need to see a physiotherapist for my right shoulder and left elbow from that stupid lifting i did a few years ago (left elbow - on bench the left is weaker than right and cos i went so heavy it overloaded and hurt my elbow. right shoulder- being a dickhead with heavy shoulder presses i have teaked something in the shoulder... i used to do 160 pounds barbell shoulder press for decent reps...pretty good for someone in their first 2 years of lifting.

i also used to do 360-400 pound deadlifts, 240 poounds barbell row, and 100-110 dumbell rows.

i trained more like a mix of powerlifter.bodybuilder and alot of strength...my strong points are strength and muscle...my achilles heal is i have a tendencies for body fat.

He should probably spend more time training instedd of yappin!!! Truth is anyone can use steroids so if he thinks that is all it took to look like you he can go and do that.
