Dorian was a bigger version of what he's been. I'm not a fan in the sense that his physique is something I aspire to attain. Dorian is in his own class and in his own little world. For that reason, there's nobody they can compare like-to-like with Dorian. They can only bring forward a different package.
( 1994 Mr Olympia ) Tonight I feel that I got what I deserved. With a beaming smile , Shawn concluded: " This is the first time in three years I haven't ' retired ' the night of the show and got drunk. "

You're insane. I was at that show and from the moment they took the stage it was clear that Yates was WAY off. He was bloated, his color was terrible and he was smooth as hell. Shawn and Kevin kicked his ass. Dorian had a 3rd place physique at best. That was one of the biggest gifts of all time.

Those pics were from the night show where he fixed his color and dried out a bit. Check out the pics from prejudging. And that is not bone dry. He was "bone dry" in 95. He could barely hit and ab thigh at the prejudging. Besides, how do you win with a torn bicep?

99/00 were dominant on paper , 1998 wasn't , biggest gift was 2001 lol I mean at least 1994 wasn't close on the score sheets 2001 hell Shawn said he got the place he deserved and Cutler said he beat Coleman , hell Coleman said Cutler beat him without uttering a word ;)

joe didnt want a guy that was very articulate, had charisma, a look that most people would aspire too to be the main face of bodybuilding.
instead he wanted a nonasethetic, a guy with a look that not many can relate too, has no personality, no PR skills,and lives in england and only comes to the US for competition to be the main face of bodybuilding.
any other bright ideas?

I know you are intellectually challenged, so I'll make this simple:
Shawn was very critical of the IFBB back in the 90's to the point where he had the reputation being a bit of a whiner.
you don't bite the hand that feeds you and expect to be given the top award.
life doesn't work that way.
dorian was much more humble and fairly quiet during his reign.
Maybe one day, when you get out into the 'real world' you might learn this :)

Shawn went Bald in 96. And Ronnie was overlooked in 1996 ;). Same series of pics found in Flex showed a thick backed Ronnie waiting in the wings

I've watched Shawn's posing routines of all his years several times, and believe me when I tell you that he was at his best at the NPC Nationals, when he turned pro. He never captured that form again. He was full, detailed, rock-hard and had superb symmetry - except for his long torso. That physique right there could have won a Sandow up to the mid 1980s. Shawn only deteriorated after that.
Of his Olympia performances, the best bar none was 1996. That was among the top five physiques ever displayed onstage. If Michaelangelo were called to sculpt a statue of the god Apollo himself, he would use Shawn as his model. He was bone-dry and shredded, but not depleted like he was in 1994. Superb.

I recall that...he was vomitting hard backstage in 1994...something was very wrong with him at the morning show.

Shawn was VERY good in 1994 but I felt, at the time that Levrone should have placed at least 2nd. Levrone could have beaten Yates that night IMO.

The crowds were very pissed in 1994 with Shawn placing ahead of Kevin and they let it be known

When the final 3 were onstage, Dorian leaned over to Kevin and said "looks like its down to us again" (refereing to the 1992 Mr O).
So Dorian had Levrone in 2nd place too.

Exactly ! According to the judges Kevin was a tad soft on the pre-judging and he was ahead of Shawn enetering the night show and Shawn only passed by him by virtue of a better posing routine

Levrone and Yates trained together at least once during the spring of 1994. Yates said that they did a back workout together and he showed Kevin some back training stuff.
Yates said that he saw Levrone backstage at the 94 Olympia and said to himself "damn, Kevin brought a back this time" (or something like that)
Levrone's rear double bicep and rear lat spread poses were awesome at that show.
