this was on the back of a 1978 issue of Muscle, I Found at half price books
My question is what was in this stuff back then ?
It was only $ 9.00 for a 4lb. can.

lots of sugar and hydrogenated fats.
Anyone remember the Russian Bear weight gainer?
It was Russian Bear 5,000
It had 5,000cals per serving.....if you added a GALLON OF WHOLE MILK.

I remember in highschool...back like in 93 or 94. I played HOCKEY and a couple of my hockey buddies and I wanted to 'gain muscle' in our OFFSEASON. The school library had Muscle/Fitness so we would look at them and we though to gain 'MASS' we would have to drink the 'shakes' we see in the mags.
We didn't have cars back then and didn't know where or what a GNC was so we thought we were slick and we'd make 'shakes' at home and come back to school the next day and compare what we made and would be like...'Yea, gained a pound...we're gonna be fkn HUGE!'
I remember pouring milk in a blender...a ton of ice cream and a ton of peanutbutter because it looked like the 'Mega Mass' shakes Ferrigno was endorsing with the red/white 'barber shop' looking straws? Looked like a regular milkshake or something. I even remember on our lunch breaks we'd go to McDonalds and get a LARGE shake...we'd drink it and feel our arms. Hahahahaha...we were such TOOLS back then.
Then we wondered why we had love handles and had another chin forming.
