Title: NPC BODYBUILDER JOE BAGLIO PASSED AWAY!
Post by: huge285 on March 10, 2007, 11:18:49 PM
NPC BODYBUILDER and recent Heart Transplant recipient, Joe Baglio (from Staten Island, NY) died over the weekend. After receiving a heart transplant due to a acute cardiomyopathy, Joe began training and successfully competed at the 2007 NPC EASTERN USA; placing 5th in the Masters Class. Joe was ecstatic at his monumental achievement.
Because of Joe's great willpower and indominable will, Met-Rx's Frank Sepe did a story on Joe in the new MET-RX MAGAZINE. Frank also flew Joe out to COLUMBUS, OH to work the MET-RX BOOTH at the ARNOLD CLASSIC EXPO. Joe was extremely happy and excited to be realizing his dream of being an acknowledged bodybuilder.
However, once in Columbus, Joe started feeling sick and after rushing to the hospital, he wound up passing away due to a complication with his gall bladder. The final autopsy results are still pending.
I was lucky enough to know Joe and I have to say that he was one of the most genuine guys I've ever met. R.I.P. JOE BAGLIO!!

Please be respectful of his memory!

Prior to yesterday, I had never heard of Joe. It just so happens that somebody left the Winter 2007 issue of the Met-Rx magazine at my house, and yesterday I read Joe's story. It sounded like his recovery was going well. A most unfortunate development indeed.

RIP.

I wonder how many drugs he was on. Probably not a good idea to take steroids, get into contest shape and eat around 5-6 meals a day after a heart transplant... but I'm not a doctor.

RIP.

As much as Dave would not like to hear comments like this (and I can understand that), this has to be said.  No one should be using drugs and undertaking the other rigors of bodybuilding in such an extreme medical state.  I understand the mentality of wanting to do what you love until the end though - I'm extremely grateful that doing what I love to the end won't accelerate the time in which that happens to be.  :-\
it does NOT have to be said.  he made the choices he did, draw your own conclusions.  RIP.

I am so honored & proud to say he was one of my great friends. He went out of his way to help people, to be my friend, to support anything I was trying to do life, be it a bodybuilding contest, help me train, come by himself to whatever DJ gig I had. He loved his wife, his huge st.bearnard, and this sport of bodybuilding. I'm gonna miss you my friend, I love you, Rest in peace.

Frankly, I don't see the need for another thread.

It's always sad to see a human life end.

Baglio made his choices, and I'm sure anyone aiding him in using gear after the transplant knows what part they played in all of this.

So that doesn't really need to be touched on.

Joe and I met back at the 89 suburban here in NJ, years later we became training partners for a short time.

As Robby Lopez mentioned, Joe was an awesome guy.

My condolences to his family.

As Rob and Vinny have already said, Joe was an "AWESOME" guy.  I too had the pleasure of knowing him.  God rest his soul, - a truly great human being.  I'll miss you buddy.
