Title: I'm not taking creatine anymore
Post by: pumphard on March 21, 2007, 05:24:07 AM
Just talked to a buddy of mine at work, and he informed me that he has to go in for surgery because of high levels of creatine in his kidneys.
He said that one morning he noticed blood in his urine, so when his doctor did test, he found a high level of creatine in his kidneys.  So, now they have to go in to see what's causing this.
The guy hasn't used creatine in years, so it's not that.  Anybody heard of this, cause I'm thinking of not using it anymore?

has nothing to do with creatine.

what he had in his kdneys is creatinine. Guy probably didn't drink a lot and has a kidney problem before.

Proof that creatine is safe is that you say he hasn't used it in years.

Well, it's not the creatine, i'm positive about that.

If he hasn't taken it in years, how will it show up inside his kidneys? supplemented creatine leaves the body pretty fast, if you don't supplement it the body produces it itself.

Creatinine is the by product of creatine. If you take 5 grams of creatine monohydrate you only use about 1-2 grams at most, I prefer and suggest using a higher quality creatine to maximize absorbtion and take the worry out of using it.

are you sure he doesn't have high levels of creatinine in his blood. This would mean that his kidneys are not working at optimum levels. Creatinine is filtered out of the blood through the kidneys. IT is sad that he might have a kidney problem..Was he a juicer?

it could be a kidney infection as well. creatinine is the waste product of creatine and is a measure of renal function. there are a couple others, which im sure he is doing. it could be a host of things.

pm nicorulez, i beleive he is a renal specialist if im not mistaken.

but for your first question or statement. creatine will not cause renal failure in reasonable doses.

its in food, and your body makes it. creatine causing renal failure is like a couple of doses of tylenol causing hepatic failure, there has to be an underlying problem. he already had kidney problems, or it is viral or a progressive disease. ka levels, na etc are all measures as well, as well as urea to  my knowledge.

you said he never had kidney problems. did he get a full blood panel done every year at least? if not, then you dont know.

also, high creatinine levels show renal failure in a late stadium. he must have had problems over a longer period without noticing it.

so because one person you know has kidney problems and he used creatine in the past your logic gets you to the point that creatine is bad and you should not use it???   ::)

It could be Creatinine your referring to.....that would be my guess.

Creatinine is a by product of Creatine and is eliminated by the kidney's.

A build up in Creatinine levels usually means kidney dysfunction of some kind.

i tried creatine a few times and found it had no impact on me weight wise.... but it was great for before kickboxing because the place i trained didnt allow us to drink water and the creatine would keep me from dehydrating and choking my instructor :D

The problem with a lot of people is that they want easy answers to everything.  When someone dies of cancer, they want to believe it was smoking or working at a factory that did it - they don't want to admit that at any time, any of us could come down with that deadly disease due to factors outside of our control.  Likewise, people want to blame supplements like creatine on kidney problems because it is more comforting to do so than to actually look at the issue more deeply and acknowledge that we can't control everything about our health.  That all being said, be rational - creatine had nothing to do with your friends kidney problems.  Some advice: cycle it on and off if you are concerned.  Take as much time off as you had time on.

Most people ingest approx. 3 grams of creatine a day, just in food. All of a sudden it's bad? Muscles cannot create energy without creatine............peri od.
The problem is, some people are taking 10-15 grams a day coupled w/ food intake creatine. This could possibly overload the kidneys w/ creatinine which could pose a potential problem over the long haul IMO.

that reminds me of something.I used to post on the original "gotfina.com" board...as I am sure most,if not all,of you know ..the Fina pellets are Trenbolone acetate. There was always questions about ways to use the pellets  without converting it to injectable....because swallowing them doesn't really work. Some people spoke of snorting them..some used DMSO as a transdermal...but one clown made a thread asking the "vets" on the board if the tren would be absorbed if he stuck them up his ass. HE WAS NOT JOKING EITHER.  The thread was titled "Anal Fina"

Well I know people that use Extacy who have stuck the pills up their ass cause of the 'rumor' that you'll absorb more and get way more fucked up. All they said was it burned like hell but I guess they still got fucked up to some degree.
