From Shawn at IronAge
" I just learned (from Lee Haney) of the passing of Greg Deferro from heart disease at the age of 53. I don't know much more than that, except that he apparently died a few weeks ago. I've emailed one of his coworkers to get specifics.
Please take a moment to join me in wishing his family and friends peace of mind and to help commemorate our fallen brother of iron. "

RIP Rocky DeFerro, 53 is far too young :(

Sad news!
Remember that in the eighties he was one of the elite of bodybuilding.
In 1983 he placed second behind the great Lee Haney at The Night of Champions.
That same year he defeated Lee Haney at the IFBB World Professional Bodybuilding Championships, although he came second. Mohamed Makkawy won.
In 1979 he won the IFBB Mr. International.
Just an impression of the placements he had as a pro in the IFBB.

You start feeling really shitty when all these guys you looked up to and viewed as supermen when you were a kid start dropping like flies at a very young age...
Makes me feel old and wonder what's up.

I knew Greg back in the day. Not real well, but enough to say "howdy" followed by a brief conversation.
He was a great person and an outstanding bodybuilder.
God bless ya, Greg, and RIP.
Keith, have you passed this on to Pete G.? I think he'd like to know.
