Title: IS THERE A WAY TO PERFORM DEADLIFTS WITHOUT A SORE ASS?
Post by: alexxx on April 18, 2007, 12:06:07 PM
My ass is crazy sore after deadlifts. Is this normal?

That means your ass got most of the work.  You might want to try a slightly wider stance and make sure you keep the bar close to you so that it rubs on your legs all the way up.

So I should do more of a sumo type deadlift?

Ok thanks.

Sumo type deadlifts may work better for you.  It may just be a matter of the mechanics of the movement.  Because you're fairly tall and your range of motion is longer and the time under tension your glutes work is longer.

haha no I do normal deadlifts but my legs are over 26 inches lean so they tend to overpower my other parts.

Yes.

Don't get ass fucked before your back workout.

Hope this helps.

Doesn't help me.. but if you speak from experience I will just have to take your word for it.

When you bend over to pick up the bar...lose the dildo ;D (kidding) Seriously, I have that same problem when I do stiff leg deadlifts, squats, and leg presses in high reps. I saw a product by GNC thats good for D.O.M.S. (delayed onset muscle soreness). I take that for 2-3 days afterwards, soak in some Epson salt and usually the soreness doesn't last more than a day.

It might be due to what a couple of people have already mentioned: you're height makes it so  that you have to squat lower.  Combine that with staying pretty upright during the motion and you probably recruit your glutes a lot.  Or it could be that your glutes are the limiting factor in the lift; in other words, your back/lower back is stronger (proportionately for the lift) than your glutes so your glutes give out first.

Maybe, as its been mentioned, try rack deadlifts, or even try doing them without going all the way down.

I don't see the problem.

You work your hams. Great.

As a side note, you have good quads, but not so great hams. So keep doing full deadlifts, also add in stiff deadlifts to target the hams, balancing the legs.
