Title: taking your dog on a plane
Post by: jmt1 on April 19, 2007, 01:59:33 PM
anyone have any experience with this?

ive been reading some horror stories.

it wouldnt be a very long flight.....about 3:20.

however i dont like the idea of handing my dog over to the baggage crew and having her loaded on the plane like luggage.

i would be a nervous wreck the entire flight.

Personally...never have done it & if it's a large dog....probably wouldn't.  Heard of too many pets that have died.

Delta Airlines seems to have some good rates & options for small pet owners.  They're the only ones I've ever looked in too.

I don't think I could do it.

How long are you going to be on your trip?

will be like 7-10 days.

my dog gets seperation anxiety when i leave her alone too long.

its my own fault....ive been taking her everywhere with me from the time she was 8weeks old.

i just saw a new airline called companion air....they allow you to bring your larger dogs on the plane with you.

they havent started up yet.

That would be awesume to go on a plane taking your beloved pet with you on a special seat or something!
I personally would never "cargo" my dogs anywhere...too many frozen up dogs and cats accidents .
But i don't think it's a easy plane ride if you got a big dominant male on your hands... :-\

In the long run, it might be better for her not to go.  You don't have anyone who could take her for the week?

never left her with anyone before but i may have to do that.

dont think i would be able to go through with putting her on the plane.
