this may be a long shot, but can anybody recommend a good gym in santa fe, NM? i will be there for over a month in the summer. i looked on the internet and the only "hardcore" one seems to be mandrill's gym. i called them up and they do not allow chalk in the gym, wtf?

almost every gym says that they don't allow chalk but people use it anyway, i sneak in a big piece in my pocket on back day.

what i do is buy a few blocks at the sporting goods store and keep the bag in my truck and just break off a piece and put it in the pocket of my pants, funny thing is that all the gym staff sees me using it but no one says anything, the way i look at it is that you pay to use the place so you should be able to do what you want within reason.

yeah, once when traveling i went to a "fitness studio" for a workout, was doing deads on that day, put my chalk on the floor, one of the "personal trainers" (150 pounds max, metrosexual look) pointed to it and asked "what is this?" when i said it was chalk he replied "cool." later on i saw him instructing some guy on how to properly do calf raises....

Throw some chalk in a tupperware container. If you are clean about it, they will generally let you use it. Just make sure to spread the chalk on your hands while over the container, and now "ritual chalk throwing" while attempting to be hardcore.
