Why?

Arnold? Definitely overlooked in bodybuilding history. They should have made a bigger deal about this guy.

That physique is better than the current Mr. O's. If he stepped on stage like that today, he should still win. Zero progress in 33 years.

Here they are compared.

arnolds arms > cutler

While I agree with you that Arnold could and should win with this pictured physique in todays line-up. I do not agree with the zero progress in 33 years. First of all, the human body is only cabable of so much improvement in muscular mass and quality. There really are limitations to everything in life. Bodybuilding is not really a sport, more of a pagent. I do not care what anyone says or thinks about this. Therefor at a pagent natural genetics is what generally comes first then overall presentation 2nd, then talent and charisma.
Bodybuilding has stepped up in some areas such as the leg dept. It has scaled down in the presentation dept. Too many guys look like pharmacutical blimps. No guy like this can live very long nor have a quality lifestyle. Most pro-bodybuilders are so out of shape that fucking would leave them in near cardiac arrest. Yes most current pros are out of shape. Listen to the way they talk when they are just walking around, they sound as though they just ran a 5 mile run.
Bodybuilding has most definetly regressed.

Wait, if it's regressed, then that's ZERO progress. ::) So you DO agree with me.

Still the best Olympia champ to combine size w/o the bloat. Shame he's hardly brought up in these "who's the best" debates. 80's bodybuilders in general were the peak of the "sport" IMO.

no, like I said. the human body can only go so far drugs or not. So to expect a constant state of progress is really foolish. My point with not agreeing with you was based on this as well as the fact that it has regressed. A point that which you did not make. Kinda' like that whole positive negative thing in math. Zero progress means that it is equall to what was. Regression is a negative to what was.
Savvy?

He looks phantastic in that picture, I wish all bodybuilders would strive a physique like that.
-
Haney is great, I think his torso is possibly the best in bodybuilding history. If his arms were a little bigger he would look totally unreal and have the best physique of all time imo. Hes not mentioned very much because hes a nice guy and not very controversial
