Looking through an old Flex the other day and I was reminded how huge Met-Rx used to be, they had tons of BBers endorsing them, they had huge ads in all the mags. They seemed like they were one of the few supplements that actually had some merit back then. I know connely sold his share of the company and they have really falllen off the map for the most part but seems they are trying to make a comeback in the BB industry.
Anyone still use Met-RX or meal replacement packets in general?

Never used it, only product I ever used Protein Powder and Multivitamin, rest is a waste of time...and money.

from what i understand they're trying to get back into the BB market. I never really used it much cause it was so expensive back in the early 90's but it seemed like everyone was using it. Labrada was one of the first guys to endorse it. I think it was the 92 Olympia where he looked awsome he specifically credited a new product called met-rx with helping him put on muscle and come in even better shape than before, remember he was 3rd that year so it was a strong endorsement.
they really did seem like the first supplement company to have an impact on 'regular" people, they had commercials on espn for God's sake.

I buy the BIOX Power Whey and it is way better, taste like Nestley Quick

used to use it back when you had to buy 2 containers + mix 'em together.
Expensive, but tasted pretty good.

It tasted like sweetened pancake batter. I used to use it. For awhile it was sold in drug stores like CVS...it probably still is.

I liked the original Met-rx when it first came out. Back then there were 2 containers....a plus and a base. back then it came separate because according to Doctor Connely, it would make some sort of positive/negative charge. later they found a way of mixing both the plus and the base.
The "old" Met-rx tasted better and was a hell of a lot thicker than the so called "new formula". it just had a very unique taste somewhat to casien powder. New formula is watery and taste like the rest of the MRPs out.
If someone was to tell me that its the same formula as the original, they have to be lying! The old formula my body responded so well to it..never had the shits or diarrhea.
The new formula sucks ass and makes me go to the bathroom a lot....
It was better when Connely was there. I lost faith in Met-rx and EAS

Ahhhh the old MET-Rx. It was awesome stuff. As many of you know, I started my career working with Dr. Connelly and MET-Rx before anyone really knew what it was. Perhaps some other time I will tell the neat story of how I met Scott and ended up being part of the MET-Rx organization.
I still use product, but is is nothing like the original formual. As with any brand that gets acquired by a larger company, the current MET-Rx formula has been "cost optimized". Too bad...

From what I read... Bill Phillips and Jeff Everson were part of the company too as distributers. They made a lot of money when Met-rx took off and thats how Bill Phillips started EAS and created Myoplex which was a Met-rx knockoff and the funds to create Planet Muscle by Jeff Everson was from his riches from Met-rx

I still get the MRPs. They were the first for MRPs and still are around so they are doing something right I guess. I wish the protein content was maybe 42-45g compared to 37g though but the price is unbeatable at Vitamin Shoppe and they don't taste like sh*t.

yep!! i was using this crap for years when i noticed one day that there was HYDROGENATED OILS in it!!! isnt that the kind of shit we're trying to avoid?!?! why is it necessary to have this artery clogging crap in your meal replacement? from that point on ive used a different brand.
for the most part, i think meal replacement bars and shakes are bullshit and poison!

The last time I used MET-Rx was about a year ago. I got a great deal on it from GNC. For a short period of time, MET-Rx was being sold in a tub, as well as individual packages. The MET-Rx in a tub actually had 5 grams more protein per 72-gram serving than its packaged counterparts. It was marked down to $40 for a 40-serving jug. But, with the Gold Card, I got it for $32.

I use the vanilla MRP's every once in a while for diversity. It's nice with milk and some vanilla Designer Whey.
I concur - its tasty and thick which keeps you full for hours...

I've been using Met-rx for 13 years now....still can't beat it's taste for a MRP!

I've never touched the MRP's, but I've been using the Whey Protein for about 18 months now. Surprisingly its one of the cheaper brands in the UK. I paid £32 for a 5lb, with a 2lb tub free.

I use Labrada's line of MRPs. Especially when I travel for business.
I also use Dorian Yates ProPeptide. It tastes great mixed with oatmeal for breakfast.
I think Mindspin mentioned in an earlier thread how he was using the ProPeptide stuff also.

it was first bought by Rexall Sundown, then Royal Numico and now NBTY, which owns Vitamin World. It may have been bought/sold a few more times...I've lost track.

Funny you ask. Scott flew his new plane into NorCal today and I just drove back from having lunch with him. I thought there was no chance in hell that we would be able to make this protein product available comercially, but there may actually be a chance. Stay tunned!
