I tell them...no  :D

it's always good to see the suprise on their face, deep down they knew they couldn't work in with an awesome guy like me, but they are still surprised when I decline their pleadings.... some of them actually cry  :-X

Those 315lb rows must be a killer. I still love the way you photoshop your pics, like the one in your avatar. Do you wear your 400 dollar jeans while you workout?

I don't mind most of the time. Plus it forces me to rest enough to give my best on each set insted of rushing and giving less effort. I do hate it when meatheads monopolize the whole f*ckin weight room circuiting from every single piece of equipment as my gym is not that big.

I also get pissed off when guys get on the smith machine and do those 16th range of motion bounces that they call squats with waaayyyy more weight than they can even do 1/2 range reps with for 3.

I let them, but if there's ANY delay in their lame ass set it's OVER..LOL

Also the reverse, "working in" with someone else. If there's any delay as he starts a 5 minute set with 10 lb., standing threateningly close usually conveys the message to move along. ;D

Of course I let them work in, you never know when you will need a spot or want to work in with them.  I go to the gym to have fun and workout, not act like an asshole trying to be tough  ::)

Why, are you sometimes an ahole?

As far as "having fun and working out" if you're serious about working out and deep into it and some putz comes along oblivious to it and wants to do a 3-minute sets of monster 10 lb. curls completely disrupting the flow, hints are a necessity for those unwilling to figure it out.

I agree on the spotting. You never know when you might need one and I am always willing to help a guy out.

No.  There is enough assholes and wannabe tough guys in gyms.  I leave the weight throwing, bad attitudes and ILS to those people who actually have insecurities  :D

This guy was waiting for the smith machine yesterday when i was doing front squats and i was almost done, but I told him that "I just got there". Then this girl who actaully is the sister of Vida Guerra , always uses the smith maching (she has a great ass) and she basically bee lined right to the machine, I finished my set and stripped the wieght for her while the dude watched hahahah...

why do bad things happen to good people ?

Nobody else at the gym cares about the "flow" of your workout. Do you pay more to train than everyone else? Train at home if you don't like it.

I approach people when theyre on their last couple working sets, ask them if i can work in, then use their weight as a warm up!

Nice work taking a one-dimensional position. The reality is that most times the douchebag who works in isn't paying attention to what you've been doing and seems oblivious to the fact that he shouldn't abuse the time taken while working in.

This is the reality; few occasions i've seen where there's any concern that you were actually in rhythm, and getting in and out without wasting time. Where have you been, working out in a cave?

When you join a gym, you agree to share the place with all types, some which may be new and not be versed in what you call proper behavior. You're just an amateur working out like everyone else and are no more important than the guy who walks in there for the first time.  Once again, noone cares about your workout as much as you do.

You're incapable of staying on point. You're referring to generalities, whereas in reality there are multiple scenarios, apparent to others who notice what's around them. I'm way ahead of you, do not think my workout's the most important thing on the planet on the other hand in the context of an intense workout & already on the equipment, it's also contingent on the newcomer to accomodate as well, which you've completely left out and don't comprehend.

Try it, open your mind and absorb that it works both ways instead of injecting your own interpretations.

I realize you're straining to sound articulate but I'm trying to follow this grammatical disaster of a post. To respond......my original response to the meathead who started it was to not take himself so seriously as there will be all kinds joining a gym.  At the same time, I do realize that every gym has the local guy who lifts a little more than everyone else and likes to intimidate those who don't.   This thread has gone longer than warrented.

You've demonstrated true obliviousness in your determination to retain one-dimensional interpretations that show a continued inability to absorb other points of view. You're essentially talking at, not to, others about your one-sided interpretations.

In which case stop taking yourself so seriously, stop preaching AND STFU. ;D

Hope this helps, i'm done with you blockhead.

the only time i wont let someone work in is if they have been rude to me in the past or if it wouldnt make sense (ie they are useing so much more of so much less weigth than i that changing it would be impractical)

its never really been an issue, my gym is pretty laid back ... and unless someone is a dick i am polite and respectful to everyone there ... you dont want to have bad energy in your sanctuary :)

Typically I let anyone work in with me, but if I'm towards the end of an exercise, gotta a buncha weight loaded and I can tell they're gonna strip the entire bar to warm-up I politely let em know I have couple more sets and it's all there's.  In that case, I'll finish, strip the weights and help em load what they need.   If I've just started I'll work with em from beginning to end....I'm not a prick about it.....just liftin weights.

does it happen a lot that people wanna work in when you curl 110 pound dumbbells for 8+ reps?

Actually it doesn't help. You're a laughable piece of work and I don't know who you're attempting to impress.  By the way, it's "AND" show a continued........, otherwise it's a runon sentence Einstein.  Nice try though.    I made my point about being cool to others at the gym. I'm done with this subject.        Hope this helps.

Maybe you made a mistake, the mistake of thinking that the person who started the thread actually gives a flying shit about some other people's workout ? Did you ever think that not everyone in the world is lending a helping hand ?

Depends on who wants to work in..

I'm not gonna let some fag work in with me if the amount of weight has to be changed all the time.. Like I once let this dude work in and each time I had to take off two plate and reload with 25 lb plates so the stud could do his brutal 95 lb bench press.  ::) And he followed me around the whole time in gym as though I was his training partner and even needed a spot pressing 40 lb dumbells on an incline.  :-X

I would work out with a person who comes across polite, mild mannered and curteous. Plus if they are serious about it then its motivating. But when its some prick or a fat dude then take a hike...

Unless it's your gym, move over. You might find yourself waiting a lot less for someone else next time.

If I'm going to have to have to unload a lot of plates on a leg press for example, I'll simply tell them it might be easier for everyone if they came back later.

If they smell bad I knee them in the balls and set their car on fire. And of course, I refuse to let them work in
