What happened to John Sherman who was scheduled to compete at the Colorado Pro show? Would John have beaten Branch and Dennis had he entered?
-
No clue. Why didn't Phil compete?

He was never planning on competing. Phil was guest posing at Jeramy Freeman's show on the East Coast.
Sherman was listed and believe stated here that he was going to compete.

John Sherman sent me an email that he was not going to be able to make the show 1 week after NY PRO due to personal matters. :-\

He could be racking up a lot of wins if he chooses to do the 10K shows.

I guess if that's his thing...to each their own. I think from a business perspective, Darrem has the right idea though.

Phil is no moron when it comes to business. He's guest posing a number of times this year. He can make good money guest posing and not have to put his body through the contest regimine time and time again through out the year.

Yes, he seems pretty smart on the business/financial front and in general which I hate to say seems kinda rare amongst pros. ;D
I see no reason that he can't make 80K per year, very conservatively. I can't wholly endorse another DVD though, after seeing first hand sales drop 80% this year. I'm not entirely certain what the future of the DVD market is for bodybuilding. In 2004-2006 it was a surefire way for any pro to make an additional 10K or more per year.

From his "interview" in flex he seems to be living very well 8)

You don't tell a Sherman Tank where to go.
Sherman Tank tells YOU where to go.
-
Phil's Met Rx contract is 6 figures, couple that with his Weider deal and some guest posings and I think he is playing it smart. Why put his body through that for 10K, when it would be better served resting and improving? Smart move I think.

Word on the streets is that John Sherman didnt appreciate the little 'snide' comments Mrs. Ray had for him following the NY pro and didnt feel like gracing that fag's stage....
speak on this mah niggaz

All things being considered, I probably would have beaten Branch, Dennis and a few or all of the ones that placed ahead of those two , don't really know. Considering that I was in much better condition than most, if not all, in New York, who knows. Didn't compete due to the fact that I have purchased a Great Earth Vitamin Store In Houston and had to attend training seminars(setting myself up for life after Bodybuilding) the week of the Colorado. Still in great shape, could have easily done the show, kind of dissapointed that things worked out this way. I was really looking forward to beating some of the GetBig heroes that you guys pump up on this board

I agree, Phil has enormous potential and people want to see him live up to it. I think he understands that and will be very smart and humble about it.

I sitll don't know how that firefighter Porter Cottrell beat in that show, all those years ago.

how about defending your title for the good of bodybuilding itself...Im sure the promoter could have made it a bigger show with the previous years winner...Its not like this kid won 5 or 6 shows and has to defend them all...And after his showing at the Arnold (which i believe he showed up smaller and/or just about the same as his first year)...What would he have to lose by doing the "smaller shows" again...Its not like he is going to come even close to winning the arnold or Olympia for a min/of 5 years...

better to have wins outside your base in such a specialized sport.
