Steve Neece and Ed Coan called Kovacs out and he ran like a little bitch, he never even BARBELL benched 525 for 3 let alone 725 for 3, his claim is about as believable as his co Muscletech bitch boy Matt Duvall's claim of 635 Smith machine military press for reps. ::)

didn't steve and ed offer him a few grand if kovacs could do 80% of the claimed lifts/beat coan in any gym lifting.

It was back when Muscletech was just starting out and before the Arnold moved to its current expo spot.MT had its booth in the backroom of the expo hall anyone who attended the Arnold back in the mid 90's knows what room I mean. Anyhow two booths down was Manfred Horbels booth. Well long story short I asked GK how big his arms were he said something like 27 and a 1/4 inches. I looked down at Horbels booth and said "Damn Greg those are almost as BIG as Horbels"
Dude he went fucking NUTZ!!! He started snorting and snarling like a fu-cking raging bull he looked at his wife then at the owner of MT and then back at me with this look like I'm gonna rip your freaking head off. My dad looked at me and goes I think you just pissed him off. I said I think I did to lets get the hell out of here. Damn did not realize he was that emotional about his arms :) Hahahaha!!!
Hell now I'd laugh at him and tell him to kiss my ass :)

Great story Mike. I remember Greg also went ballistic on Ron Harris in December of 2003 when he compared him to Trevor Smith. That was back when mayhem was using the Ikonboard software so the thread is no longer present or archived anywhere, but Greg was really upset and blamed it on low carbs. I think based on your story it seems that Greg has some major insecurity issues and probably needs psychological help. Anyone who melts down so easily cannot have a healthy self image.

I lost a lot of respect for Bob Kennedy and Greg Zulak when Muscletech took over Musclemag. I have all the issues dating back to number one.
Kennedy always carried all the shows and athletes not just the IFBB. Zulak's column was interesting and entertaining before he sold out.
A real shame as far as I'm concerned. >:(

What is really funny is that you all care enough to even pay attention to such claims and debate them back and forth. This is body building not weight lifting. If you want to be impressed by the pounds someone is moving you’re in the wrong sport. Fools!

If they really thought lifting heavy weights were an achievement they would be in weightlifting or power lifting--not bodybuilding. By the way, have you noticed that the bodybuilders who love to brag about their lifts never actually achieve anything in bodybuilding worth bragging about?
Where is Duvall bodybuilding career?
Where is Kovacks bodybuilding career?
Where is Brewers bodybuilding career? He has potential, but so far it is no where. Anyone who wants to brag about his lifts can find a fool who will listen, but that doesn’t make the lifts true nor with listening to. Guys who lift real weights like Mendelson, Kennelly, Blakley, etc. don’t have to make claims about their lifts because they are proven and well known. Bah!
