I admit it, I enjoy doing cardio. wtf??? you say. LOL
I enjoy running and various kinds of cardio. I have run in plenty of 5k ,10k type races. I am pretty slow at running distance races, but enjoy it.

You're lucky, i think it's boring as hell & gruelling for most, compared to lifting.

brutal attempt at establishing a pattern of good threads.

shit makes my shins hurt.

my shins hurt as well after a couple weeks of cardio sessions and I'll have to lay off the treadmill for a while but I love running using fartleks (yes fartleks) to get an intense workout in a short amount of time as opposed to spending a boring hour on the treadmill.

I enjoy it too, also serves a purpose.. I do some cardio after every workout. Recently alternating between HIT/interval style and long constant (65-75% target HR)

What kind of routines do you run?
Just random, or you have some kind of structure?
I've done a bit of fartlek, as well as shorter sprints.
Between the two, I actually prefer doing sprints, 50-200 meters, with fairly long rests in between.

I like going for a 3-5mile hike a few times a week. Cardio on machines is boring.

If you are doing it just to get lean, then just crash diet mate - you'll lose a bit of muscle and lift less for a while. BFD. But you'll get lean in about 3 weeks tops 8)
When I want to get lean / drop some weight, I just live on coffee and noodles (maybe 2- 3 packs a day) for about 2 weeks - get's you lean in no time.
You do lose a bit of muscle, size and strength but once you've gotten lean enough, you can slowly start eating more, although you must eat less that what you are eating now cause otherwise, it'll take you back to the same base bodyweight.
It'll take you 3 months overall, to catch up and less if you juice.
Try it out - it's not going to kill you or anything ;D

Fair enough. You've got tons of muscle and you're 240 or so, so you can eat a little more. And you don't have to eat what I've suggested - just keep the intake to under 1000 Calories a day and eat it in the form of meat - you won't even lose much muscle, let alone feel weak or worse, like a zombie.
And you can have cheat days every 4th day or so. Just go by what you see in the mirror and not the scale ;)

I run a "miracle mile" trying to get the best time possible so I'll keep cycling between 30 seconds at a full peed sprint and 30 seconds at a moderate pace until a mile is completed. At that point i'm seriously sweating like Patrick Ewing under the hot lights of MSG in a double overtime playoff game! Once the mile is completed I'll jogg/walk until my heart rate returns to just above normal for a total time of about 9 to 12 minutes

I find cardio to be enjoyable..45 minutes on the stair master at the target heart rate is awesome. I have a mp3 player that plays videos also. 8 or so music videos and you are done.
but as kiwiol said diet plays a more important role. But I just feel better when I do cardio

Yes, diet is the real key to getting lean, but I also agree with your idea that regular cardio does make you feel better.
I am really into fast walking on a good incline (10-20%) now instead of running these days .

I used to like the treadmill

Basile invented the fartlekker. He fartlekked when fartlekking wasn't cool. 'The bloke what fartlekked Arnold,' Down Under.

Cardio sucks and is boring... Ipod helps and tv makes it a little better, some nice tail to stare at is also a plus when doing cardio.

I don't mind doing the elliptical trainer. Its a bit easier on my knee than running outside on a hard surface.
-
i really enjoy running outside on the sea shore, run about 10 km once or twice a week plus 2 additional sessions in the gym which are boring.
so i think guys who hate doing cardio and find it boring should try doing it outside. nothing beats running on the sea shore seeing all the fat whales lie in sun watch you pass by. 8)

i respect anyone that runs 10km, never tried it, and would be scared to do it, i do run on the treadmill which is much easier but to run on hard surface for 10km's is awesome
-
I absolutely hate cardio. I usually eat as clean as possible, and when I want to shed some fat i just shape up my diet some more. And yknow..a lil eca.. That being said, whenever i HAVE gotten off my ass to do some cardio, its sure been helpful, so i think i have to bite the bullet here and start doin some. Plus yknow it'd be nice to not be gasping for breath after bangin my girl.

i thought it was pretty easy to do 10 k i did it once... nike 10 k with a friend that runs everyday 5 to 10 ks
the first k was good, then at 5 i was dying... plus it was over 100 degrees... the worse part was that at the 2nd k i was still alive and i passed an old man who was going really slow, and i thought waht a looser.. then at the 7th k i hear sh sh sh sh sh, then look bak and the old man was aproaching me, then passed me! SHIT! jajaja its hard to run 10 ks if you have never done it before... but its a cool experience... I got a free t shirt! jajaja
