Title: For you twunts that have a home gym
Post by: ManBearPig... on July 03, 2007, 06:22:26 PM
where can i get my paws on commercial grade equipment for teh basement?  I'm moving in 6 weeks to the new house and my extreme hatred of Persians and Jews and that one black guy at the gym has made me take this step.

I know goatboy and alex 23 have some setups going so let's hear it (no bowflex suggestions).

For a home setup just buy Reman equipment.  It is like brand new.  Go to www.globalfitness.com or www.usedgymequipment.com

I had been working out with just a Power rack (chins/dips) and a EZ bar for the last couple of years up until a couple of months ago, but since i joined back at a gym I have added a good 5kg of muscle. Just so much more you can do at the gym and no weight limits either 8).

IMO you'll get more for less $ with a power rack (cage) w/ pulley & stack + bb, tho mine is just the rack w/o the cable.  Ensure it has a chinning bar (most do) and get some dipping bars if there's nowhere else you can do 'em.  I also have dbs up to 25kg (55 lbs), and I'm pretty set.

I have found no home gym setup can give you what a gym can on leg day.  So I always do leg day at a gym.

But shoulder day and back day, the home barbell setup works great.

Chest day and arm day, I try to use the gym, but home setup is here should I not make it there.

get a pull up bar, a set of gymnastic rings ("elite rings"), a $100 barbell / dumbell set, and a weighted vest.

This is more than you need and should be attainable for less than $400.

Actually it's lacking a little in ways that could easily be improved.

It's great but at 1,300 lb. and more than 5 K it's serious overkill for most.

It says shipping included.  However I think with the iron I'd be looking at 6-7k.  The convenience of having that in my basement would be awesome though!

It's great but at 1,300 lb. and more than 5 K it's serious overkill for most.

It is def above 4K probably around 5k or so as Pumpster stated but I have something similar at home that was around 1K. I work at a gym now so I don't really use it but let me tell you that you can def replace a gym if you get something like that and buy some free weights. You can do all kinds of exercises not shown, I used to always do "custom" exercises on mine. I plan to one day expand on what I already have but would like to possibly get something more heavy duty like that. Anyone with the money and room who is a serious lifter could really really benefit from a machine like that.

I actually had mine in my moms living room when I first got mine like that 3 or so yrs ago. Now I have a converted garage/gym which is only really used for storage now. She hated it in the living room, I would get bitched at daily. ;D

I bought a TITAN last year and it cost me £2,400,which would be about $4,800 for all the options you can have. Its made in Poland and took six weeks to arrive, the craftmanship is second to none, and there isn`t anything i can`t do on the titan that i could do at a gym.It takes about 8 hours to put together and you do need someone to help you move the sides, they weigh about 250lbs each, when its all put together it weighs 1,300lbs.To see all the exercises you can do on it,look at http://www.szultka.com/english/

Fuck all of that.  Get one of my Total Trainers for your home.  Ready to go with no assembly, folds away for storage and it has a better warranty on it than a Titan.  Oh yeah, its only 399.99.

A home gym is just for maintaining your physique when you're taking a break from the gym.  No home gym can beat the comradry of training in a gym as well as the equipment and motivation.
