i never realized just how many mercenaries are over there. Did a google search and was surprized by what I read.
-
Most of the guarding and transporting is done by "Security firms"
Two of my friends where over there.
Money is very very good but it is no joke.
No mercy from the Iraqi insurgents if they catch you and the Americans are so trigger happy a fair bit of casualties come from "friendly fire"
-
i have a few friends that work for blackwater, they want me to apply.but i am not interested in that anymore,i like where i am at.if i needed money though i would go back and finish sniper school then join up with either executive outcomes or blackwater,no more entry team for bench.

No amount of money is worth the risk of having your head sawed off. You'd be better off homeless.

You will have to go back to pre-1999 if you want to join Executive Outcomes, Bench.

The new South African government did shut them down, they don't even trust Cash in transit companies LOL, it just show the last thing "revolutionaries" want is another revolution.
Laws have been passed that a South African cant go join the army of another country like The French foreign legion or even if you have dual citizen ship another countries normal forces.
The only private army the ANC wants is its own ;)

I always thought that S.Africans were allowed to join our armed forces (UK)?
Anyhow, the "Rainbow Nation" sure sounds like a great place to live! ;D

It is completely illegal to join any armed force.
The rainbow nation has its ups and downs :)

no,they are still around.but instead of fighting they are training other army's now.
but you are correct about them no longer fighting.they exist now for the sole purpose of training

There are still plenty of groups to join in the UK...Hart group and Armour LTD. I think the EO guys have or are involved in some way in some of the new groups. BlackWater is the biggest half a billion in US government contracts and getting bigger.

It will be interesting to see what happens....they have a ton of money. There is plenty for these guys to do if they don't do Iraq. Based on this story and the way these guys work..this is not the most egregious thing these guys have done.

Its funny u posted this. We have an "expert" on this stuff here at the Post I'm at. She's quoted or sourced in alot of the books/articles on the contractor use in this war. The phone hasn't stopped ringing for her so we're gearing up to do some stuff on this. Pretty big deal for BlackWater, but they want to branch out anyway. I think once they begin to support major companies in areas not exactly tied to the GWOT, we'll see more problems. BlackWater wants to be able to field a BDE sized element with air/armor/med and possible amphib capable..for sale to anybody.
-
at blackwater you can make 99,000 for 6 months of service at $550 a day, not bad at all
-
Tax free.....u can make as much as 600-800 with them. Department of State security was hiring guys for a grand a day. i know a guy who did it but they lost 6 guys in 6 months 2 KIA and 4 injured.

so if u make it then u can potentially make 100-200k in 6 months of work tax free!!, thats pretty good money. you could do that once or twice and invest the money smart n make pretty good live for yourself if u still have it when its all said and done..

I'll be honest with all of you, I don't like the Church nor am I a follower of any religion however I do have my personal theory or hope that there is something like an after life not heaven and hell just something more.
I want to die one day with the knowlage that I have not direclty killed somebody for personal gain greed or simply for money... something some/most of these Black Water guys are willing to do on a dialy basis.
-
U could but there u don't get mediacl....so if u have a family u have get them covered. Combat wise depending where u are and what u get urself into...ur ass is hanging out. Some units won't support contractors..some will. Its not US military policy to support them but we do. Its pretty wild. there several good books on this that u should read.

There will always be a certain breed of people that will do anything for personal gain money for excample, I think we are destend for greater things in life than to kill each other, it sadens me a little that perhaps I will never see time when Humans have finally manged to life truthfully together, it could be possible.
-
They may get a bad rap..but its more the excitement then the money because what they do is very dangerous and these guys by and large love living on the edge.

war junkies?
-
Action junkies...plus these guys believ in what we're doing. Most being special ops guys, they have been fighting this war in the shadows longer then we realized that there was athreat, so they have seen how much of a threat the terrorists are, for alot longer.
-
I'm reading Janes Defense Weekly and it looks like Blackwater is going to purchase several Embraer EMB 3144 Super Tucano aircraft...which would give them close air support capability. They have Hughes/MD 500's already..mini-guns the whole works.
-
I used to work for Blackwater USA (Transit K Division).
Their man power & "military equipment" division is nothing compared to their "Intelligence/Surveillance/Information systems" division. Their IT is deeply embedded their Lexxis-Nexxis and many other tracking systems. This is pretty scary.

I'm actually serious.
I spent 18 months supervising their 384 nodes Teradata system implementation. 384 nodes = twice the processing power of Walmart's Enterprise Data warehouse, about 1/6 of NORAD's Teradata system (nobody knows really about Norad's but there's invoices left and right ;D ). That's roughly 64 terabyte with failover.
Are you calling me out?

I believe you...
btw, "Transit K" stood for "any realtime information that can trace a location or a transactional behavior". K = knowledge and "Transit" = "event" or "exchange"
You should've seen the conservative/creationist turd who started that project.
Made the musclemissions.org freak look like a cool dude.

Sure why not..he was a computer contractor he didn't say he was kicking doors and wearing cool sunglasses. Blackwater has a ton of money so i'm sure they are trying to create the same capability the Military has, but on a smaller level.

That'ts exactly what it is; they just aquired a couple of aircrafts... for "air support" ::)

Well looks like they want some fast movers simply because they don't want to wait for clearance from the US military when they need a jdam, I can see massive Friendly fire or collateral damage on the horizon... personally I would feel seriously unsafe as a Coalition Soldier if I knew that Mercenaries had Airpower.
-
Well....They don't want their asses hanging out if Uncle Sam can't or won't respond. This is more so for when they go outside OIF/OEF areas. The big companies are going to come looking for these guys as they branch out.
