Title: Your new overweight body: Test your Methods!
Post by: Iron_Sheik on September 17, 2007, 11:41:05 AM
I am curious to see some of your responses. Someone posted this on another board:

Let's say you woke up tomorrow and these we're your stats:

5'11", 305, approximately 30-35% BF%, sedentary job

Before "offing" your new slovenly self, you decide to see how quickly you can change things. What kind of program do you lay out for yourself? No illegal substances available. Everything must be over the counter and you only have 1 hour per day to workout.

i'd become vegan. that would cut calories in half.

1 hour walking each day should be enough to burn calories and low impact at 300 pounds running might be outta the question.

I'd pretty much do the same thing.  Light walking, then some low impact jogging/eliptical, some bike riding and then some weight training.

as long as that walking routine is happening often enough and during a long enough time period... along with a change in eating habits and the total amount of calories consumed... i see no reason why most people shouldt lose substantial weight, given enough time...

at 30%bf and 300lbs you would be rather muscular.... i'd rather wake up that way than 5'11" 140lbs....

better to be fat and powerful than skinny and weak

This sounds a lot like "pumphard" who melts down on the Y on an hourly basis.  He happens to be a pedo but that's beside the point here.  He is 5'9", weighs 350 lbs, is morbidly obese, and has swollen milk sacks he calls "pecs."

To change the 305lb thing I would go back to sleep and wake up at 6'5, 260lbs and ripped to the bone. When you awake in the morning than you might as well wake up to an exceptional body and life. OH yeah...and speaking of exceptional bodies, there would be  two drop dead gorgeous women by you side in that extra sized bed, when you open your eyes.

In the real world I would start with a zero carb breakfast and take if from there. Holding the carbs down to between 40 to 60 a day. I would also move to a higher altitude with a purer oxygen content, which tends to burn off extra fat. I would apply the Tabata method, a top fat burning protocol. And also similar interval training like PHA & circuit/station training. No need for endless running on surface or treadmills. I would consider swimming, but prefer it done in the ocean or river rather than a pool. More all over resistance. And of course there is mountain biking and biking in loose sand as we do in SoCal.

You do not need any stacks to lose weight at a comfortable rate. But human nature being what it is, some people will think they will. Might direct your self to the tweaker and druggie boards on GetBig for the latest and greatest super fat loss aids if that is your desire.

As far as lifting programs go, three days a week, divided between upper and lower body. Monday upper, Wensday lower and Friday upper again. The following week start with : Monday lower, Wednsday upper and Friday lower again. Alternate each starting Monday. While dropping fat you want to build muscle mass because so many weight loss programs are muscle wasting . You drop fat,  but along with it muscle mass.  Ty for 4 to 5 sets per muscle groups in a workout. And focus on the big compound exercises, they require much more calorie burning output. Insert the Tabata method (or like programs) between workout days. The Tabata method take between 3 to 6 minutes to preform (depending on your needs) and puts the body in a fat burning state. Do 3 or 4 sessions a week.

Feel free to do a search on any method/thing I had suggested, if new to you. Good Luck.

First thing I would do is, lower my caloric intake. Then I would start doing cardio for 30-60 mins a day, 4-5 times a week. I would also start a weight training regimen consisting of basic exercises done in fullbody fashion 2-3 times a week. Just by doing that the body would respond greatly since it's use to doing nothing.
