I was checking out some old Olympia line up pics over the weekend and although those guys were 50/60+ pounds lighter, they were SO much more balanced, detailed and muscular!!!!! They looked incredible!!
I couldn't post pics ( hopefully some of you can ) but the bodybuilding world has lost its way BIGtime..... MOST of todays top pros' are just huge lumps of meat (and seem to be rewarded for that!!). With todays nuritional knowledge and supplements, the IFBB could AND SHOULD encourage a return to the judging criteria of these times ??

Yes quality over quantity!
The opinion is that Freaky size sells, but it's not like Arnold, Columbo, Zane, Platz etc were unpopular.
It's like Milos said: ask anyone, do you want to look like top Mr Olympia competitors? and the answer is no.
-
ask anyone and they rather look like brad pitt in fight club
so thats hardly an argument.
-
your sidestepping the issue...
Who would you want to look like: todays top pros or Arnold ?
-
all about the money, people want to see disgusting freaks with gh bellies to cheer on.

Bodybuilding hasn't lost its way atall. Thats bullshit. Its one thing to talk about idiotic judging but there's no way people would keep being interested by endless variations of 240 pound bodybuilders duking it out in comps. Its a freakshow. With a freakshow, shit has to get more suprising.. not the same. Most of bodybuilding (assuming you're not in it for jerk off material) is just checking out some freaky guys. There really isn't that much too it.

The judging HAS lost its way. Lets hope the criteria will change as Chick has suggested it might. I still think mind-blowing quality blows you away more than just ugly mass.
