Title: The lost art of Bodybuilding - the future of Bodybuilding!
Post by: Bluto on October 01, 2007, 03:38:04 AM
Bodybuilding need to be an art, not a freakshow. And it should be displayed like an art - like Arnold did in Pumping Iron, when he stood on a rotating platform and people admired his body like a work of art.

Because of that the following need to be banned from Mr Olympia and other contest:

- no dancing
- no humping
- no headspin
- no running around stage posedown
- no hatebreed music
- no ass shaking
- no electric boogie
- no hand behind the ear "let me hear" you signs
- no shouting in the audience
- no costumes and props
- no slow r kelly type of soul or rnb music
- no techno
- no change of music
- no robot dance

Only classical music can be used. And posing should be slow and graceful. The audience need to wear a tux.

Bodybuilding need to be seen in the same light as finer exhibitions, opera - that kind of thing. Not chippendales. Not cheerleading. Not beauty pageants.

THIS is the future of Bodybuilding.

-no hatebreed music

was that what Rockel was posing to? just awfull

-Jay Cutler. His routine sucked aswell. sometimes he just stood like a goof there when the song stopped and guy talked. Pose to music not some talking voice. And the music changed like 5 times....

-Will Harris. no comment

-Dexter Jackson. soul rnb or whatever boring as allways.

The only decent routines was Wolf and Hides

yes and that would bring some class to it. and with class come respect.

you dont respect a body of someone strutting around stage like a male stripper to techno music.

no class.

will harris looked fine BEFORE he started that routine. then he made a spectacle of himself.

bodybuilding can be two things - grace and strength.

muscles look powerful and a sign of strength etc

but also graceful and beautiful when the bodyparts perfectly flow together.

but this dancing strutting shit does nothing for bodybuilding, the idea of strength and power is gone, and it doesnt look classy or gracefull. instead it looks silly and ridiculous.

why would people spend 20 years to build up a body that looks super human outta this world and then reduce themselves to a chippendale dancer? or someone who's trying to audition for jackson 5 reunion...

Consider the crowd you're appealing too.  I think where bodybuilding is, is perfect for the clowns who attend the events.  Stagnant routines to classical music, and you'd see the fan base drop tremendously.  The demographic you'd be appealing to would be rich white people who go to the opera, not steroids abusers who dress poorly.
Oh, truely is spelt truly.

none of the guys can pose. they just do the levrone....gimme some cheers move and walk around on stage like umpla lumpa.

I agree about the ART of bodybuilding being lost COMPLETELY. I was trying to find the Arnold quote from Pumping Iron about "Moulding The Body" - where bodybuilders train to build their muscles in the same way an artist uses clay to mould the perfect body. Now that money is the driving force behind bodybuilding I fear that true bodybuilders are on their own now - Pro Bodybuilding shows are becoming like Pro Wrestling ..... bullshit !!

Well said......Firstly the night show is for the average fans of bodybuilding.......you say the dancing must stop. When Kai green finished his routine the audience was on their feet....when Dorian finished that routine that someone put up as a great posing routine the crowed reaction did not compare to Kai's crowed reaction. Pre judging is for the true Die hard Bodybuilder fan and enthusiast alike.....where you sit and judge the physique, take it apart compare it to others breakdown the parts. Thats where you find true Bodybuilding aficionados AT the PRE Judging.  ;D

Now this is a disgrace.  I don't see how someone could think this was a good idea.

Yeh, as much as I want a return to traditional bodybuilding I think there IS room for more entertainment in the posing round but ONLY if you can pull it off - Vince Taylor has THE best posing routines in the sport. Rocks every show he enters.

I totally agree.

I think the gay male stripper routines are embarrassing.  But making a routine fun and just having a great time on stage is what's needed.
