To the organizers, well done.
I heard that they were skimpy on the samples..I don't understand why they would be.
if people don't try it..why would they buy it?
-
Really sucked compared to last year's. The sup companies were cheap on samples, and staff very unknowlegable. A hot chick with a bikini can only take me so far. Where were all the machine and barbell companies, and other equipment co's. The only samples were Nitrix oxide B.S.
I got a few Max Muscle shirts for cheap, that was really cool.
Some of the M.C's should take public speaking classes

One thing weird was EAS wasnt there. Vyotech wasnt there either!
I wished the girls dressed more scantilly! Last year was great!!!

Worst expo than last year. They skimped out on everything.
The whole thing was done on the cheap.
If you weren't there last year, I can understand you're thinking, but last year was the best, and I've been to several. this year was not even close. Even the girls weren't as pretty.

I agree TOTALLY with you jerry! You couldn't have put it much better than that!

To the organizers, well done.
Are you sure you were at the "Olympia" Expo? I'm still really upset I waisted my time there.
-
It was a great expo. Had lots of fun! Even interviewed Tre about what exactly is a Schmoe, what makes Tre a Schmoe expert, and more... it's all good.

what is the target demographics for these supplements? (who is going to buy them?) 16-26 year old males. What percentage of the crowd walking around the expo were 16-26 year old males?

Arnold Expo RULEZZZZZZZZZZ....

most supplements (95%) are shit anyways.

The Expo was awesome.
The only down part was that when Lopez and Thyssen heard that you, Isaac, and I were on our way over to their booth, they both high-tailed it out of dodge and left the girls to clean up. lol

I think that "Schmoe" is a Jewish word that means something derogatory, but I could be mistaken since I was raised in an Italian Catholic neighborhood where the worst word we used was "Bruta Facia".
I agree with most of you and say that this was one hell of a great expo regardless of the Schmoes and Bruta Facias in attendence.
Hey! If you're old enough, you might recall that L'il Abner and Daisy Mae raised Smoes (Al Capp's spelling) and they would happily jump in the frying whenever anyone got hungry.
And that's way more than any Get Biggers need to know.
-
bruta facia...lol.
isnt it facia bruta?
???
-
Yeah, im sure they were really scared Tre.
The Skittles Sisters (credit to Isaac for the nickname) had reasons to be afraid.
The little DJ fag actually called me out on the Fit-Fig board.
I gotta give you credit for supporting your fellow crackheads, though. ;)
-
bruta facia...lol.
isnt it facia bruta?
???
No, it's butta facia.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE POST SOME EXPO CHICK PICS? AND IM NOT TALKING ABOUT BOB...

I think that "Schmoe" is a Jewish word that means something derogatory, but I could be mistaken
everything can be found on the internet:
Schmo (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=schmo) Yiddish for an idiot or a cuckold. Essential loan word in New Yorkese English, along with all the other Yiddish insults. See also schmuck (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=schmuck).
Schmoe (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=schmoe) A person who pays to view "members only" sections of websites, usually those of figure/fitness women

I'll volunteer some pictures......
Some are a bit blurry because I had a new and expensive camera and had the lens set to manual.
-
Shot of two blond ladies ......
-
The other 98 chick pics are too damn blurry to post. (Dumb camera!)
Hope you are satisfied with the following Expo shots .....
-
These sides were over ten feet tall ......
-
and costly but impressive ......
-
This short guy kept bugging me for a picture .....
-
Find Noah ..... definitely one of the greatest guys in the game......
-
Studley Cena signing signatures saturday
-
Entrance set up. One of many posters of Olympia winners from Scott to Cutler ....
-
Haney poster too ......
-
Stunt, what camera were you using? Sometimes a small point and shoot like the Canon G9 is better in crowds. I always carry my D80 plus G7 with me.
Your shots of the gals might simply be camera shake!
-
Tuff.... VERY tuff! (MMA)
Great guy too! One of the best in the sport.

The Expo was like a ghost town. Nothing at all like the Arnold Expo.
-
The Expo was pretty good. Nothing like the Arnold Classic.
-
Vince, believe it or not but I was using my new Nikon D-40X. It takes great shots if I set it up correctly. But this time I failed to switch the lens from "Manual" to "Automatic". This camera is way smarter than I am so it was actually my fault. (I think Eminem said it best though!)
Here's a shot of Vic (a wheelchair athlete) and one of the ladies in the next door booth.
-
This is a shot of a very complicated booth arrangement. Two guys were working on it looking for parts to get it up. I strongly suggest that you produce the simplest booth possible in order to avoid last minute setup problems. A large setup requires heavy shipping expenses and once it arrives at the hall, the union charges you to move it inside the auditorium based on its weight and size. Get an exhibit that fits inside a suitcase so you can ship it with your luggage and set it up with little, if any, problems
And plan to get rid of any product material at the hall. Otherwise you are going to have to pay additional expenses to get it back home.
Exhibitors are smart when they give away anything they had on display during the last couple of hours. I left late and ended up with more supps than I can use in a lifetime. Gave most of it away on the way out to the parking lot.
-
I usually leave my D80 on P mode so I can use the flash when I want. Nothing beats the G9 with that big 3inch screen, face recognition software and 12 Mp. Your 10Mp should have done the job. I know what it is like to get home and be disappointed. Gotta check after most images and zoom in to see if they are sharp. Expecially the hot gals! As we get older our eyes aren't that good and sometimes we don't see the out of focus stuff until it is on the screen and then it is way too late to take again.
Nice to see your contributions. Those cameras are amazing things and take a while to master, if that is ever really possible.
-
I took a few shots at the Men's Prejudging. I'll include one here and find the right spot where I should post the rest of them. Here's a shot of Wolfe taken from my comped $130 seat on the left hand side of the stage. You can visualize that position when you see the BOOM in some of these photos.
Now I gotta find out where to post them......
Thanks for the help, Vince. One problem I notice with the D-40 is that there is no light around the little knob you turn to set the camera up properly. Got the manual here and the real name of that knob is "Mode Dial". It should light up in a dark room.
And I still gotta learn how to use the Menu Screen.
Here's Wolfe at prejudging......
-
The expo was great. It was much larger this year and had more vendors.
Allow me to share a few of The Ron. More are up on www.bodybuilding.com (http://www.bodybuilding.com)
-
And here's a photo of one of the screens which allowed those half way back in the arena to see what was happening up on that stage. Kind of like going to a football game and watching it on TV to get a better view. These were huge screens and did the job they were supposed to do.
-
another shot of Wolfe but on the giant screen this time
-
Looken good, Ron! How come I didn't see you Lift?
-
SM you are a brave man to take a brand new camera to a big event! These digital cameras are complex. You will find that you have to read the manual at least twice to get the hang of the damn things. Always stuff to learn about them. The main trick is to review every photo and make sure it is sharp. The setting for focussing can be altered and is crucial for sharp photos. I use the center weighted option then focus on a face and then keep the shutter half way down then shoot the pic. The smaller compacts use live view on the LCD screens and the center rectangle goes green when it is in focus. The big 3 inch screen of the G9 would help heaps for group photos. There are also several options for reviewing images. Usually you click the review button and zoom in on important images to make sure they are sharp. I do that with the eyes of people I am shooting. If I can see the colour of their eyes clearly that is great. Anyway, you will get the hang of it soon enough. Get out there and shoot more photos.
Thanks again for posting your images.
-
Looken good, Ron! How come I didn't see you Lift?
You did you blind old bat. LOL! I talked to you for a few minutes while in front of the booth Dina was at. ;D
-
Ron is a pussy magnet 8)

I met many people from Europe at the Expo and all of them were having a great time. Didn't see anyone there who looked disappointed in the least. Even Vince!
Here's a shot of the Expo crowd at its least busy period during the early part of Saturday afternoon. I don't recall any lull at all on Friday. Why was Friday busier than Saturday? You'd think it would be just the reverse.
All in all it was a hell of a great time!
-
NO, Lift! My eyes are perfect! Must be my mind that is screwing up. Sorry about that.
Met Dan Solomon walking around with Bob and that was a real pleasure. I want to use his voice in the next movie we make. Very unique voice to say the least and he could capitalize on that in Hollywood.
Hey, you Hollywood movie critters! Check out Red.com. It's the hottest thing in professional movie making at present. That and a Steadi-Cam can get you started in the right direction. Get a great script and financial backing and hire Bob and Alex and some great looking critter and critter-ette and make the next big blockbuster. That very thing is happening as we speak way down south in a remote but colorful jungle and now it's easier than ever to make it happen if you got the balls to take the leap. Check out Red.com.
And here's my final photo of the evening...... A great couple I met at the Expo who have the potential to be winners in the not too distant future.... Good luck to ya both!
-
Find Noah ..... definitely one of the greatest guys in the game......
Noah Steere is a goddamm fucking freak.
Someone has to tell that guy on the left to have some breaks from the sauce!! Every photo i've ever seen of him his head looks like it's going to explode. It's not worth it for what he's got either.

The Olympia Expo used to suck. It was pretty damn good this year.
Are you guys pissed because there are no teen cheerleaders at the O? ;)

maybe it was good and bad.

There appeared to be much fewer vendors than last year. The equipment companies were not in abundance like last year.
There were fewer Signings than last year.
There were not very many new supplement and vitamin companys. There were way fewer samples given out.
Everyone and their mother was promoting N Oxide.
There were way better representatives that were hired to represent the companies last year than this year.
The setup was basically the same as last year, but more spread out to make it look larger.
Anyone else feel the same way!
The Olympia was great as well as the press conference.
-
my suggestion is put the olympia same weekend as halloween and you kids can go trick or treat

Appreciate the props on the Press conference...
"appeared" is the key word...we actually had MORE vendors and booths....what we did was expand the size as well as the aisle width to accomodate the amount of people attending and the massive bags being carried. Anyone who has gone to the ASC will tell you, it's complete gridlock and very annoying when you cant get from A to B because of the crowded areas...
As for samples...that's up to the individual vendors

I personally liked this years better, only because i got to chat with most of the top pros. But it was the same setup and the same products as last year. And no strongmen at all. And no arm wrestling

I looked through my goody bags and found out I hardly have any meal replacements in there! Without EAS there to give out Myoplex mrps, it sucked!!
The girls at the ISS booth were cool as hell..they let me eat all the bars I wanted....Spike girls were coll as hell too as well as the SANN girls who gave me a lot of those energy drinks....
Those SANN girls were sexy as fuck and I loved the yellow outfits that showed off their curves...wish I had pics of them..they had the best women!
But there were some girls at the other booths who were very skimpy on the samples when I asked if I could get another bottle of this for a friend.
ALRI chicks were cool as hell and sexy as hell...they gave me so much supplements (Venom, WTF...)
Labrada nutrition....they were giving out just samples of the bars and a quick mini energy drinks. They didnt give any MRPs like last year...
There werent many big name name booths....mainly muscletech was big....they had Six Star, Muscle Asylum...other big booths (somewhat) were Labrada, VPX , Met-RX, GNC....
Vyotech wasnt there, EAS wasnt there....
There were giving out mini samples this year
Muscletech gave out a big bottle of nano x9 in the goody bag! Got 3 big bottles!
Last year's was better ...last year walked away with so many mrps that it lasted me for over 2 weeks taking them 3 times a day..
Shirt designs were better last year too. There werent many contests...bench press reps contest, bucket contest to see how long you can hold a lateral raise...these were non existant for some reason....
Scantilly clad women were very scarce...remember last year had those painted women? I wish they had them this year.
-
Tony from PTA Las Vegas; I agree, we had a great turn out. I think on Saturday everyone was waiting in line for an autograph maybe thats y the feed back.
-
I've been one of the biggest Expo critics the past few years, but this year's edition was excellent. It was just 2 years ago when fans were walking out with huge bags that contained almost nothing, but this year, guys (and the girls, too!) were dumping loads in their trunks and then going back for more!
If you didn't get tons of free stuff this year, it's because you weren't trying.
I agree 100% with Chick - it's good to have more room to move about. I don't know what makes people think that 'so crowded you can't move' = a good thing.
The Expo organizers did a terrific job and there were more booths than they've ever had since AMI took over and many of the women looked great.
Look - if I come out of the Expo with nothing to complain about, then you know it was a good event. ;)

no wonder you're a friend of pumpster
you're both dumpster divers living off hand outs

Expos are meant to get free stuff!!
-
"what we did"
Chick, what was your role in setting up the Expo?
-
You are right, Lift. Some of those shots were taken on Thursday while the set-up crew (Champions) was in the process of erecting the booth spaces.
-
"what we did"
Chick, what was your role in setting up the Expo?
I help with many different aspects of the Olympia, as I am part of the Olympia production team....
-
I never take free stuff at the expo's (i don't want to lug it around for one thing)
second reason is ...................i just use a Whey isolate for supplements (and ill just buy it)
call me weird i guess.............

Im poor as hell so hand outs are welcomed in my book!

Bob, tell me why the audience is always in a hurry to clear the room once the Mr O is announced. is it either a lack of respect for the athlete or are they just disappointed?
-
Jerryme was very accurate in his description. As for bluto and the dumpster diving comment, I disagree. Last year, many companies unveiled new MR bars and flavors. I don't like sampling stuff thats been sitting around for 2hrs with 200 hands all over it.
As for the more room as chick said, it was more pleasant to move around. I do reccomend that anyone who is a true fan of BBing to go next time and check everything out from the press conference on.
I really would like to see all 3 screens being used above the stage at the olympia rather than just the middle one, with the other 2 used as advertisements for muscletech. I couldn't get a good look at the figure comparisons, but had the other 2 screens been used I know I could have.
-
Its obvious the supplement companies have taken a hit because of getbig's member's relentless criticisms of their decietful practices and shitty products. They have cut their marketing budgets realizing they can no longer fool bodybuilders, weightlifers.
I bet they are going to put their marketing money towards some other naive niche group that they can rip off.
The money pit with bodybuilders has dried up thanks to getbig members.

THey're not...and havent been in any hurry in the last two years....last time I seen the room clear was when Ronnie won his 8th straight....show was over, same result was given in te last 8 tries, and people were out to the vegas strip....
NO ONE left last year....and few did this year.
-
I was only able to attend the Press Conference for a few minutes, but what I saw was very impressive. The placed was packed and the stage set-up was impressive. Almost liked like a million dollar set from a high ranking TV game show.
I was also impressed by the Expo. My only complaint there was the cost involved getting the gear from the loading dock to the booth space site. Most products could have been carried in by the vendors but since it was a union operation, everything had to be carried in by the union personel and that got rather expensive.
Rumor was that it cost $25 to carry one case of drinks from the loading dock area to any of the booths inside. Any truth to that one?
Bob, you guys did one hell of a great job making that expo work for one and all. I made the complete tour/rounds at least six times over the two day period.
The most impressive thing I saw was the little 4 year old karate kid doing warm-ups in the ring by jumping four feet into the air and landing on the deck in the split position. Cocky little kid but he did impress everyone.
I still feel that women's bodybuilding has gone overboard, but I gotta admit that I still have lots of respect for their efforts. I didn't agree with the Jay decision and discovered soon afterwards that there were many other who thought that Martinez should have won it.
Best dude in the whole damn expo has to be Noah Steer! One who never seemed to crack a smile was Ferrigno. Milos was always busy talking business. Cena was super polite to all his fans. Chick was touring the place and speaking to eveyone as time allowed. Ron was having a great time soaking it all in. Lift was shooting pictures and shaking hands.
Soloman (mon?) was a great guy to talk with and has the kind of voice that the movie industry is always looking for... brings back memories of Stirling Holloway. Jeff Everson towering over the crowd and shaking hands with just about eveyone in passing. Robby Robinson still looking younger than he did 30 years ago. Quincey appeared to be the most generous pro giving ample time to each of his many fans for conversation and picture taking. James "Flex" Lewis and Peter Putnam and Brandon Curry (the future of bodybuilding) making new fans at this expo with courtious talk and photo ops. I know and have met lots of fighters since the days of Joe Lewis and Jack Dempsey, but the one fighter who most amazes me is the one fighter whose name I can't remember, so I'll include his photo at the bottom. Talk to this fighter for just two minutes, and I know that you'll agree 110%. He brings class ot MMA.
I'm forgetting many others and some beautiful ladies who made every guy feel like he was the only person in the place.
One lady in particular knows what I mean.
Had a great time! Thanks to all who made that possible.
Sorry for this blurry shot.....
