If more guys on the stage looked like him today the sport wouldnt be such a joke. He had everything a perfectly build BBer should have, he was a total package. I would give my right eye to look like that!

you can cite genetics... but at the same time, you can blame today's guys for messing themselves up with insuling and hgh to get bigger, losing all their quality.

larry Scott was quality.

Larry didn't have shredded glutes.   No way should he get onstage looking that fat.

My words exactly! Larry was a great Mr.olympia. The first! The only! Remember, however, that he looked so great because his body was built first and foremost with training and he used sauce in small doses. To him, steroids were the icing on the cake and he didn't rely on drugs like today's bodybuilders who pack on 100 lbs of mass with 40 of those ending up in their stomachs.

Europe is where you'll see some really great pros coming out of in the future ! it seems the stateside crop has dried out , hell 10 years ago the Nationals had such a deep field of quality competitors now and days its lacking

Hell how do you think Edger Fletcher would far as a pro? he would have done well at this years Olympia but can you believe this guy couldn't get a pro card???

His problem was conditioning: he had very thick skin. Here's what he said in an interview to MD back in 1995:

"I can't diet too much for a show. I tend to get sick when my bodyfat is too low. I need some bodyfat to feel good and be able to train hard."

It's nice to see a posing routine like Larry's that includes herculean, graceful moves, and not a lot of this dancing nonsense ! 8)

Larry is a great person with a ton of passion for the sport. He still has great arms for not only a man of his age, but any age. I have trained with him some years ago and he uses some of the craziest exercises I have ever seen. True mr olympia

It's funny that everyone screams genetics as the reason for Larry looking so great.  Vince always thought Larry had some of the worst genetics of any of his students but he was always the hardest worker and willing to push himself to his absolute limits.    Than again Vince had Howarth as a student at the time and you just don't get better genetics than that.

Ya, the posing seemed generally much better than the nonsense that is popular now. The posing AND the music were much more to my liking.

I wouldn't say ideal physique only because the legs were not good enough for the upper body, of course that was more acceptable then.
