I arrived at the Friday night show around 9pm or so for the women's fitness and bodybuilding finals. When I got to the box office, I was informed that there were no budget seats left, so I had to pay $80 for the next level.
When I got inside the arena, however, virtually all of the 'cheap seats' were empty. I know a lot of people left following the men's show, but I didn't pass that many people on my way in.
What's up with that?

they did that to me several times and I missed the olympia several years because of that. they figure if you made it here, you'll spend the extra cash i guess.

I bet if I'd worn my 'Tap Out' shirt, that bitch woulda found some 50-dollar tickets.

you should of pulled the geek from behind the glass and applied an armbar until he tapped and took the tickets. Tap Out guys don't have to pay for anything they take by force

This is typical for them to do and I have fell victim as well. The ticket sellers are trained that on the day of the event to only offer the expensive seats in order to make up for poor sales. They know if you are there you will pay cause you are desperate! If you walk away and say it's too much trust me, they won't bother to stop you and negotiate...They will also leave a certain number (approx. 50) for hotel guests and other "comp" people which will be the open cheap seats that you will see once inside. A friend of mine knows one of the managers for the ticket sales and says this goes on for all events in Vegas not just the "O". The only way around it is to get your tickets in advance or you will be ball busted to go...

Bob also announced more than once that the Mr. Olympia was sold out. Meanwhile when I looked around, at least 20% of the seats were empty. Maybe the tickets were sold out to scalpers. Although I don't think scalping is economically viable in bodybuilding.
