Randy “The Natural” Couture has been quoted as saying that there’s a “Steroid witch hunt” with him in the crosshairs. ONE DAY before UFC 74, Joe Rogan, the UFC’s color commentator, added fuel to this fire when he did a guest spot on ESPNEWS to promote the Pay-Per-View event by claiming that Couture had undergone “hormone replacement therapy” and applauded what modern science could do for older fighters.
The single biggest catastrophe that the UFC could face would be a steroid controversy surrounding one not only it’s World Heavyweight Champion, but one of it’s most popular and well-known fighters. A catastrophe that could spell not just the end of the MMA “revolution”, but the end of the UFC as we know it.
Let us not forget, by the way, that “Hormone replacement therapy” is still steroids. If it’s true, so be it; Couture did it to himself. If it’s not true, shame on Joe Rogan for tainting one of the promotions top fighters. Steroids, in this day and age, are no laughing matter. They are taken as seriously as any other allegation in today’s sports world.
The UFC’s hands are tied to a certain degree as well. They can only test before a fight and not in the weeks spent training. If a fighter knows exactly how long a certain chemical takes to leave his or her body, they can take whatever they like and do as they please as long as they’re clean when they test, both before the fight and after. I applaud the UFC’s drug policy and it’s strict repercussions a positive test incurs, but in some ways the system could be changed for the better without impeding a fighters training.
The UFC must, after all, be sure that none of it’s current Champions are ’roid users. They must also make sure that no NEW Champion is a ’roid user, either. The UFC has an obligation to itself to make sure that each and every fight is as clean as it can possibly be.

Rogan made a comment on ESPN news regarding HRT therapy that Randy was going through that precipitated the "witch hunt."

im not an expert but it seems really obviously that he could have used 'something' judging just because of his physique. hormone 'therapy' is just a legal method to use steroids in his case

Yeah I wouldn't expect Randy to be the type to be shooting himself up. To much risk of getting caught and losing his belt.

If he is doing HRT, the doctor giving him the drugs would keep his hormones in the regular limit, never going over, that is not illegal at all and he would pass the tests with flying colours. Remember an MD won't give them HRT unless they actually need it.

What about the professional wrestling scandals with doctors prescribing steroids? I am sure if Randy wanted a Doc to get him the good stuff then he could get the good stuff.

Even then, it would be to much of a risk to use them since he is tested before all his fights.

IF an athlete is under a doctors supervision and receiving HRT, it is perfectly legal. Prescription is given to the AC in question, AC allows greater deviance on hormone levels on tests administered.

yea his levels have to b within his limit for his age... anything superphsyciological is illegal...
also the doctor could have him on hgh also and theres no way to tell.

I suspect Randy loaded the GROWTH for year....usually it takes 6 months to get some real benefits of it....but now he's full blown. ;D

What about a fighter using HGH? How would that show up and is the use of human growth hormone illegal. I konw a doctor can prescribe it. once my dad gets done with his treatment he has the option to get it.

maybe rogan's under the impression that test levels still won't be high enough even with a “hormone replacement therapy” to piss dirty so it's a totally legal thing to do ?

True HRT is only 50-200 mgs a week of test tops... nothing more. If he uses more, then there is no doubt he using it for competitive gain.

What about HGH damn it. I know that it is supposed to make you huge and can be legally prescribed by a doctor. Does anyone know anthing about this.

There is no test for GROWTH bro...
With the money the "Natural" is making.....he can afford to run it year round.

How much size could one gain off of growth? Why not run growth all year instead of roids? Minus the fact that your head would be the size of Titos...

Well im pretty sure Randy runs some Test with it because the magic happens when you use juice and growth. You can make some great gains in size....but like I said it takes like 6 months before you can see something...some takes 3 months...but I am assumming when Randy was "retired" he was loading it and then came back stronger than ever.
With the amount UFC fighters get paid....they cant run growth year round. I am sure Randy has his hands on some JINS. ;D
Look at Coutures Jaw and neck size now bro and compare it to when he last fought Chuck. And no its not because he gain some weight because he didnt look like that when he fought guys like Rizzo,Ricco or Barnett.
In fact he looks younger from the face now too.

As far as i know HGH doesn't have that much effect for size.
It will help with staying lean and probably help for joints and recuperation.

He was called the "Natural" because he was considered a natural at NHB, not natural when it comes to AAS. You should know this, being a former mod and all.

I don't know and to be honest I really don't care,I think as long as they can make weight they should be able to use anything they want......
I'm just sick of wondering who is and who is'nt at this point....
