Ronnie Coleman, arguably the greatest body building champion of all-time, finished fourth in his final Mr. Olympia competition on Sept. 28-29 in Las Vegas.
In the weeks leading up to the event, the 43-year-old Coleman announced that this would be his final Mr. Olympia competition.
Coleman won eight straight Mr. Olympia titles from 1998-2005. He was runner-up in 1996.
A 1982 Bastrop High graduate, Coleman earned a football scholarship to Grambling State University. Upon graduating Cum Laude from Grambling in 1986 with a degree in accounting, Coleman moved to Dallas.
To Coleman's surprise, jobs proved scarce in the Metroplex.
Unable to find work, he accepted a delivery job with Domino's Pizza.
"Domino's was the hardest job I ever had," Coleman recalled. "I dreaded every day working there, but I knew I was destined for something better."
Coleman was eventually hired by the Arlington Police Department, before his bodybuilding career took off.
Coleman entered his first competition in 1990, before turning pro two years later.
In 1994, Coleman qualified for his first Mr. Olympia, placing a disappointing 15th. He was 11th in 1995, sixth in 1996 and ninth in 1997, leading up to the first of his eight championships in 1998.
Coleman's reign finally came to an end in 2006 when he finished runner-up to Jay Cutler.
Cutler successfully defended his title on Sept. 29, finishing with 28 points. Victor Martinez of the Dominican Republic was a close second with 32 points, followed by Dexter Jackson with 62 and Coleman with 89.
