Don't get me wrong, the more shows the better. But who would you rather see, and under 202lb show or an open weight show, where the average competitor is at least 240lbs??

Bob mentioned that it is on the calendar but it is at the discretion of Vyotech. Whichs means now that they have this show it is more than likely that Colorado is given the boot

You put the powers of two shows/promoters/sponsors together and incredibly still wind up with the same pathetic prize money. Nice job! The New York Pro show was half-empty in a high school community college auditorium this year. Can't wait to see them fill the Javits Center!

Lee Priest was at his best @ 199 pounds. Most of the dudes over 240 have a significant gut. If the momentum keeps up, maybe even Rich Jones might come out of retirement. And just because it says 202 and under, doesn't mean the guys will be short. They could be like Adi Ray, or other musclemania guys.

LOL at both the unprofessionalism "or anything", as well as at the fact they're not doing an overall posedown, the most entertaining part of the show.

Shawn sucks.

Yep, I think Shawn is aiming at making the competitors more streamlined and marketable. The heavier the guys are, the less the public likes. The public can swallow a 200 pound 5'9 dude, but a 270 pound 5'9 dude ain't gonna go over well.

Bodybuilding will never sell because the idea of going to a bodybuilding contest and watching it is ridiculous.  Only the closest 1-10% to the stage can actually see anything.  Bodybuilding mandatory poses are boring.  This is why bodybuilding doesn't sell, not because of how the bodybuilders look.  I've said this on here many times yet people still suggest it is the physiques which prevent bodybuilding from being popular.  Bodybuilding is more popular now than it has ever been.

Like last's years Europa show which was 210 and under, this show should be intereting.  However, due to Silvio Samuel being 206 pounds and so incredible above the competition, this show is now 202 and under, which will give some other competitors a chance to proclaim to be the the winner!

Regardless of Shawn, it is nice to see Vyotech support a different type of show, although please, if there is no Colorado show, just clear it up for the fans who were looking forward to it.

This is clearly evidenced by our being able to watch the Jr. Nationals, Jr. USA, Nationals, USA and the Mr. & Ms. Olympia on ESPN.  Theres also the new episodes of FLEX magazine workout ans American Muscle.

Okay, I'm being a smart-ass.

More popular than ever?  You don't actually believe that, do you?

Ron are you saying that the weight was changed because of one guy? Imagine if the UFC arbitrarily changed their weight-classes because one guy was better than the others. That is one of the dumbest things you've posted if it is the case.

I hope the new show is a success. I also hope the title sponsor takes care of their unsettled business before taking on this venture.

more extensive small-stream coverage (fans get webcast, there are forums, etc)

less mainstream coverage (no more ESPN)

So matt and triple-H are both right.

Imagine if the NFL prohibited right handed-QBs when the playoffs started to the pats didn't win again  ;D

Interesting statement there.  Promoters often have a history of "turning the page" and leaving some bills unpaid.  I hope that if it ends up that Shawn or VYO leaves some people burned, the fans know.  Those 2 parties enjoyed the goodwill when they were putting on the show... I hope they don't skate on their responsibilities and leave debts.  people have families to feed.

Actually...your wrong Ron....It had nothing to do with Silvio winning.

I was part of the panel that made the decision to reduce the weight to 202.....the reasoning is quite simple...we wanted it to be in a range where guys from the lights to middleweights can bump it up without having to put on too much weight and ruin their physiques, yet low enough that guys wouldnt be coming down from the 230's......

Bob,

Any particular significance of 202 as opposed to, say a round number like 200? Is it because 202 is the Washington DC area code and the IFBB is secretly run by the State Department? Is it because the first Masonic Temple in the United States sits at 202 Main Street? Is it because 202 divided by 4 is 55.5, which is the original number of the Beast? Conspiring Minds want to know!

It allows for  a 4 lb. gain for the top of the Lt. HVY class.(198.25)

I actually think it is cool for the IFBB to have a show for the smaller bodybuilders. Larry Pepe and others brought this idea out many times, and the Europa show wasnt that bad.  But since Silvio was 206, and won the show, unless he loses 4 more pounds, he can’t compete in this show.

I am just playing the devil’s advocate. I thought it was funny! Of course it has nothing to do with Silvio.  Silvio can get down to 202 and win again!

No, Mr. Getbig offerred $4,000 because of one cool sponsor called Progenex, who main person is the member of the board. It was a nice gesture and I am thankful for that.

As for this new show, of course I will support the show! It will showcase the bodybuilders who generally do not get the spotlight, and will be nice for the industry!

It's not being missed...it's a brand new concept...give it a few to see how it is recieved and supported by the athletes and we'll see about getting the prize money higher....
