Bill Predicts Hillary Will Win Big

Stumping with his wife in Iowa, Bill Clinton told a gathering that Hillary will win the White House “by a pretty good margin.”
During a Thursday stop in Glenwood, west of Des Moines, the former president also told the crowd that voters “trust” Hillary to enact healthcare reform.
“We have a moral responsibility to cover everybody, but we’ve got to understand the system we’ve got now costs you $700 billion a year more than any other system in the world would cost if you put it in America, so we’ve got to bring our costs in line with other countries,” he said.
“She’s offered a plan to do that.”
Hillary holds a comfortable lead nationwide over her closest competitor Barack Obama in a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll, 47 percent to 25 percent. But the same poll found her in a virtual dead heat with Republican Rudy Giuliani in a head-to-head match-up.
The crowd in Glenwood gave Bill a standing ovation, Radio Iowa reported. But he said the gesture would be meaningless if Hillary does not win the Iowa caucuses in January.

Doh! Busted. Hillary planting questions. She seems smart enough to think on her feet. Why does she need to plant softball questions in an audience of college students?

Bill Clinton: It Would Be 'a Miracle If Hillary Wins in Iowa'
Saturday, December 15, 2007
Bill Clinton said it would be a "miracle" if Sen. Hillary Clinton wins in Iowa, even as he brushed off his wife's top rival, Sen. Barack Obama, as a candidate too green to run for president.
The former president, who has been campaigning tirelessly for the Democratic frontrunner as slipping polls and a series of gaffes have threatened her campaign, made the comments in an interview with host Charlie Rose on PBS Friday, where he also said voters would be taking a "risk" if they elected Obama, according to an article in Editor & Publisher.

As Hillary Clinton prepares for a five-day, 99-county Iowa tour with her campaign beginning Sunday, her poll numbers are running low in the final stretch before the Jan. 3 caucuses.
A Newsweek poll of 395 likely voters taken from Dec. 5 to Dec. 6 showed Obama with 35 percent, Clinton with 29 percent and former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards with 18 percent in Iowa.
In the interview, Bill Clinton said Edwards might even win, which he said would be preferable.
"It would be a miracle if Hillary wins in Iowa, and I'm not just low-balling you," Clinton said, according to the Editor & Publisher article.
But he touted his wife's experience and said Obama might not be ready to be president.
