Matt Serra has injured himself during training and cannot fight in December! This SUCKS...
Let's see what the UFC tries to do to make up for this fight!

“This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do,” said Serra. “I’ve never had a back injury before; I could hardly get off the MRI table. There is no way I can train through this, and I’m devastated, especially because this was such an important fight. I was looking forward to fighting Matt Hughes. All my training was going phenomenally until Monday – All I can do now is to get better and to fight again as soon as possible.”
Age must be getting to Matt. I've never seen him get hurt.
The problem with doing alot of bjj is that getting stacked by big guys takes it toll on your lower back.

ANY POSSIBLE OPPONENTS?
-
havent heard anything yet, too soon i guess
-
WHO DO YOU THINK WOULD BE A GOOD FIGHT THAT CLOUD POSSIBLY HAPPEN?
-
i dont know gotta think about that for a second...!

Right now at the top of the food chain in the UFC 170lb div you have Fitch,Karo,GSP,Koshcheck and maybe Diego if he decides to stay at 170lbs, Karo just fought so I don't think it's very likely he will step in. Would Matt Hughes take a fight with any of these guys on short notice? and Would any of these guys take on Matt Hughes with short notice? In all likelyhood I think they will throw a scrub in for Hughes to beat on so they can still have the "nemisis" themed title fight once Serra heals up.

I gotta disagree...I don't think Hughes will fight that night at all. I believe he will wait until Matt Serra is ready to fight. Think about it-Hughes takes a fight with anyone and ends up getting upset. His title shot goes out the window! I think Dana will try to set up another big fight for that night, possibly with Arlovski??
-
thiago alves maybe. karo got a broken hand. he's looking to fight fitch in march, if he recovers.

agree....
hughes being the prima donna that he is isn't gonna risk anything when he just got done saying he only has a handfull of fights left in his tank.......
I suppose Dana could MAKE him fight a tuneup before Serra but Dana stands a lot to lose if hughes loses too
-
Fuck It. Gomi has always said he'd love to fight Matt and vice versa. Throw Gomi some cash for a 2 fight deal and make the shit happen.
-
“I’m not even going to be in the country. I’ll be in Vietnam tending to some personal matters.” - fitch
-
I think a lot of this depends on the extent of Matt's injury. If he needs surgery, we could be talking about a year before he fights again.

if that's the case I'd think dana would have someone fight for an interim title.....
hughes against someone maybe

All that shit talking and now he can't fight...........Good for him.

I agree, the midget talked alot of shit, considering he was given the victory at TUF final, a lucky punch to take out GSP, he is not in the same league as Matt or GSP, probable not even hurt, just wants to keep the belt longer so he can brag how he is the champ

yup

Good....i'm glad Serra's out bc I don't think Hughes deserves the shot. GSP does...
this gives him the shot if he beats Hughes again...

Another educated post, Hughes was a multiple champ, multiple title defenses, got beat by another great fighter for his title, the midget won tuf against a bunch of has beens like him, you're right, Matt doesn't deserve a rematch or even a shot at the title, but the midget did

NO, i don't think Hughes deserves a title shot....and for the point that he should top GSP who REALLY deserves the shot. With your logic, Liddell deserves a title shot too.... ::)
I"m all for the #1 contender getting the shot.

I agree... He does talk aot of shit .. But lucky punch ? How do you figure ? St.Pierre was his target when he threw that punch... He hit his target ! It wasn't luck...He was aiming for Rush..

lucky in that serra has nine wins and george was his first stoppage,in fact I've never even seen serra hurt anyone in there with a punch, and all of a sudden he lands a prayer and he's got a UFC title belt around his waist........

why teh hate on serra bros

The fact is, Liddell did deserve a rematch, in boxing the ex-champ gets first title defense, should be that way in the UFC, was saying Hughes should have fought GSP before the midget did, the ex-champ should get a rematch, why after being the top, after a loss he has to fight his way back
