What are some of you guy's thoughts on how Palumbo truly feels about never being called a pro?
I know the standard answer is "ya but he makes more then most pros etc" ...But beyond that, the guy obviously has a massive ego...And deep down, it really must sting to try so hard to achieve pro status but always come up short...
Not a knock on him, I'm just saying that he has made bodybuilding his whole life and whether he likes it or not, he will forever be an Amateur..

Come on, how many pros can say they've had a disease named after them? By this measure, Dave has been very successful indeed!

Some great Getbig minds performed some fine work on that classic thread.
Fricking hilarious that so many different sites refer to the term "Palumboism"

easily a top 5 thread of all time on any board that has ever existed including non bodybuilding sites...
Now someone has to get on ESPN when they are talking about gear and bring up the dreaded disease we all know as palumboism...These media types will jump on something negative without really researching it...
That would be and pwning that would be off the charts...Hopefully during the Titus case, someone can call in somewhere and mention palumboism

Palumbo probably should have won his pro card on a few different occasions, he did look pretty good a couple of years. He got the shaft I think it was in '96 to cutler? Just one of the many gifts cutler has received
-
wow never even realized he wasn't a Pro. Just assumed.

you may be right about that...But boy it must sting now that guys like Derek Farnsworth,Pelletier, and even Kovas can for the rest of their lives call themselves Pro's...
But Palumbo can't
If Palumbo was on the show Joe's verse Pro's, he would be a Joe to Pelletier's pro...
-
I think our resident Bob Chick would know how he feels, I mean it took him what...20 years to get his pro card?? he got to enjoy it for a couple before he retired ;)

Ask Evan. Seems to have worked.
Dave has done more with less than anyone else ever. For a man with his looks and genetics to be making a living in this "sport" is an enduring testimony.
Someone said it must hurt his "big ego". When Dave gives me advice I usually walk away thinking it was my idea. The man has no ego that way, and he keeps no "secrets". A rare breed in this "sport".

Politicians have a way of making the every day sheep feel all warm and fuzzy inside also...
Maybe your right about the ego...Wearing a string back tank to a black tie affair probably has zero to do with ego... ::)

na,,palumbo wouldnt turn pro in the 70s 80s 90s or 200s simply because his structure does not fit bodybuilding,,to be a bodybulder at the pro level you must must must must start with small tight waist and go from there,,
you got here friends on getbig that put palumbo to shame physiqe wize such as mindspan and hutch and even waddy if whenever he feels like adding size his waist will never grow,,
its a matter of genetics,,you cant be biig and have big waist,,big waist = fat no matter how much bodyfat5 you carry,,and fat is ugly
-
Palumbo calles himself a pro
so he doesn't let not actually being an ifbb pro get in his way
-
Those who can't do, teach.....
